The Premier League has reached its second half. As it stands now, Arsenal is in the lead, with Manchester City gnawing at its heels, and Newcastle in a distant third. But the Premier League is not the only major competition that the UK is interested in. The EFL Championship is incredibly popular, international football tournaments like the UEFA are incredibly popular as well, and of course, Wales and Scotland have their own football leagues as well. So, with that in mind, we would like to look at the biggest shirt sponsors across UK football and see who comes out on top.
Bet365 – Stoke City F.C.
Stoke City F.C. are currently competing in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. And though their fans are passionate, the club is not doing so hot. They are in the bottom seven of the tournament, sitting at 18th place. Thus far, they’ve won 8 of the 26 matches in which they’ve competed, losing 12, and tying in six.
But what matters is not their track record, but their sponsor. The Stoke City jersey is a pretty classic striped shirt, bearing the red and the white colors of their hometown. And they aren’t the only ones either. Fulham, Leeds United, Leicester City, and Manchester United all have kits sponsored by Adidas. Making Adidas the leading sponsor for shirts in the 2022/23 Premier League.
Nike – Liverpool, Chelsea, etc.
As the leaders in sponsorships in world sports, Nike’s name was bound to show up on this list. They have sponsored some of the biggest and most popular footballers in the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who just recently parted ways with Manchester United.
The two most popular teams whose shirts they’ve designed are Liverpool and Chelsea. And certainly, we can see a pattern. A plain shirt whose quality speaks for itself, with the Nike logo placed over the right breast. Liverpool’s crimson red and Chelsea’s dark blue are two of the most well-designed shirts in the 2022/23 Premier League.
However, Nike did not stop there. They also designed the shirts for Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. So, certainly Nike deserve a mention as one of the top sponsors in this season of football.
