Scotland World Cup odds: Can they finish ahead of Brazil and reach the semi-finals?

Scotland will be back competing at a World Cup this summer for the first time in nearly three decades.

It's going to be a party atmosphere in Scotland this summer as Steve Clarke's side prepare for their first World Cup campaign since 1998.

There was a mixture of emotion in December when the World Cup draw was made, which saw Scotland placed in a group alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti.

And now all 48 teams have been decided for the 2026 World Cup, UK betting sites are beginning to showcase some interesting markets involving Scotland.

Below, we take a look at three outright markets that might pique the interest of some Scotland fans.

     World Cup Group Forecast

Group C will see a flurry of betting activity all over the UK with both Brazil and Scotland in action - and the World Cup group forecast represents a unique outrights market for Scottish fans.

It will be the first time since 2011 that Scotland face off against Brazil - country they have never beaten.

But they also lost their one and only meeting with Morocco back in 1998 during their last World Cup campaign.

The bookies have Brazil/ Morocco as the favourites to finish first and second in Group C, but there will likely be plenty of bets on Scotland to cause an upset.

It's not unthinkable that Scotland could clinch second and there are odds of 6/4 on Scotland to finish behind Brazil.

The odds jump up massively though on Scotland finishing ahead of Brazil in the group to 16/1.

The bookies are clearly confident Brazil will not finish outside the top two as the next available market involving Scotland is for a Morocco/Scotland one-two finish at 33/1.

And it's even more unlikely to see Scotland finish ahead of Morocco with odds available at 66/1.

    Stage of Elimination

The World Cup stage of elimination market is another popular bet among punters trying to extract value other than the typical outright winner.

With the 2026 World Cup expanded to 48 teams, there has been an additional knockout stage added to the tournament.

More teams will make it through than be knocked out in the group stage with eight of the 12 third-place teams qualifying for the round of 32.

With Haiti in Scotland's group, Clarke's men are fully expected to at least finish third in Group C and pick up some points.

According to UK betting sites, Scotland's most likely stage of elimination will come in the round of 32 at odds of 4/5.

But those same bookies find it more likely Scotland will be knocked out in the group stage (5/2) than the round of 16 (7/2).

A shock run to the quarter-finals isn't completely against the realms of possibility if things go their way, but they have odds of 16/1 to be knocked out at that stage.

Interestingly, Scotland have the same odds of being knocked out at the semi-finals as the World Cup group forecast of them finishing second to Morocco at 33/1.

    Elimination By Penalty Shootout

One of the more unique outright market that is available for a select number of teams is whether or not they will be eliminated by penalty shootout.

With bookies not expecting Scotland to go any further than the round of 32, they're less likely to be knocked out on penalties than teams such as France or Spain.

They are currently the highest-priced team available to bet on the eliminated by penalty shootout at 12/1.

The market also lets punters bet on whether they won't be eliminated by penalty shootout, although punters won't find great value there for Scotland - or most teams for that matter.

Scotland are priced at 1/25 not to be knocked out of the World Cup on penalties.
