Can Rangers win the 2023/24 Premiership title?

The 2023/24 Premiership is shaping up to be quite the season, with plenty of drama happening at both ends of the league table.

There is a battle to avoid dropping into the relegation playoff position, as Livingston appear to be doomed at the foot of the table, while the tussle for the title is hotting up.

It makes a change from this stage last season, when Celtic where closing in on their second title in a row.

Who are the favourites to win the Premiership title this season?

With regards to making a bet on football online, Rangers are the current favourites at odds of 4/7 to claim their first Premiership title since the 2020/21 campaign.

In terms of football tips however, Celtic have fallen behind their Glasgow rivals in the betting recently, with odds of 16/11 as they look to win three in a row this term.

Everything is to play for over the next few weeks, but the momentum is certainly with the Light Blues.

Philippe Clement has transformed Rangers

Prior to Michael Beale’s sacking at the start of October last year, the Gers were lying in second place, eight points behind Celtic after just seven league matches.

Three domestic defeats was hardly the form of potential champions and the board acted swiftly, relieving the Englishman of his duties and appointing Clement.

Fast forward six months later and the job the Belgian tactician has done is simply remarkable. Not only did he lead the side to a first League Cup triumph in 12 years, but they also secured top spot in their Europa League group following a stunning 3-2 victory over Real Betis in Spain.

This was the first time the Ibrox side had defeated Spanish opposition on their own soil and just two months in, it appeared as though the board had finally found a manager who could turn the club around.

These two achievements are not even his biggest accomplishments since taking over. Rangers have managed to claw back the eight point deficit throughout the previous few months and currently sit one point behind their Old Firm rivals, albeit having a game in hand.

While Clement has managed to get his side playing a much more attractive style of football than his predecessor, his ability to spot and unearth talented players could perhaps be more important in the long run.

The former Club Brugge manager has largely inherited a squad from Beale, with certain players not fit for purpose in the current setup.

The 49-year-old has already worked wonders in the January transfer window, but more will need to be done during the summer in order to build a squad which can challenge consistently for the title.

The momentum is clearly in their favour heading into the final few weeks of the season and Rangers are certainly the favourites to pip their rivals to domestic glory.
If he does, he will become the first Rangers boss to win the league in his first season since Dick Advocaat, who achieved the feat during the 1998/99 season.

Whatever happens, it promises to be a dramatic finale.
