A Look Around The Leagues: What The Odds Makers Are Saying Ahead Of the World Cup

Only the Scottish Premiership will take a break over the coming weeks for the World Cup, but even for the Championship and below, it feels like a bit of a moment in the season to reflect ahead of starting the busy Christmas period.

Across the divisions in the country it’s already proving quite tight, with just four points separating Celtic and Rangers, and similar stories further down the football pyramid. There’s plenty still up for grabs, and you’d find better punts on predicting a hand in Casino777.nl blackjack or roulette than you would predicting the winner of League 1 or League 2.

Of course, we’ll still be trying and it feels like a good time to reflect on the betting markets as we move into November and the winter run of fixtures…

Scottish Premiership

Celtic restored their four point advantage on Rangers with a 3-0 win over Livingston at the weekend and they are heavy favourites to win the title with most bookies pricing them at 1/4 to win the division.

Rangers are priced at 11/4 and of course it will be a two horse race for much of the season, with what seems like a likelihood that the Parkhead outfit will leave their rivals behind as the season goes on.

At the other end of the table, both Dundee United and Ross County are three points adrift on nine points, with the latter favourite to finish bottom at 7/4 with Dundee United 15/8.

Scottish Championship

In the Championship, the bookies have got it pretty neck and neck with Dundee and Ayr at present, both priced at 5/2 to win the division. Dundee are five points behind Ayr at the moment having endured a poor run of draws, while it’s also tight at the bottom with just three points separating eighth and 10th.

Scottish League One

In League One, both Dunfermline and FC Edinburgh have had solid starts to the season, with The Pars sitting just three points ahead at the top of the table, having lost just once all season.

The bookies have got them just about favourites, with Edinburgh outsiders at 7/1. Falkirk, who are currently third and just four points behind the league leaders are second favourites at 10/3, while the bookies aren’t ruling out Montrose either, despite being seven points adrift, with them priced the same as FC Edinburgh.

Scottish League Two

In League Two, Stirling Albion have enjoyed a great run of form in recent weeks that has taken them to the top of the table, level on points with Dumbarton. Both sides are up there with the bookies, with Stirling just ahead according to the oddsmakers at around 6/4. However, Dumbarton are priced at 13/8 and it’s looking like a two horse race as they have started to leave behind East Fife and Stenhousemuir, who are priced at 7/1 and 8/1 to win the division respectively.
