Most expensive transfers this Summer

The most expensive transfer to happen in Summer of 2022 in the Scottish football league is definitely Calvin Bassey, moving from Glasgow Rangers to Ajax Amsterdam for £19.58 million. The transfer was signed on the 20th of July this year, selling the defender to Ajax for a record-breaking fee.

In addition to that, on July 1st Celtic acquired Jota, or João Pedro Neves Filipe, who now plays as a winger for Celtic. The transfer cost Celtic £6.4 million, becoming the second most expensive transfer this Summer. There have been two additional £6 million transfers: Cameron Carter-Vickers moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Celtic, and Joe Aribo moving from Rangers to Southampton.

A lot of changes are happening this summer to the Aberdeen Football Club. The club has signed in the midfielder Leighton Clarkson, on loan for the ongoing season from Liverpool. In addition to Clarkson, Aberdeen is also gaining Callum Roberts. The attacking midfielder from Notts County F.C. will be playing for Aberdeen on a three-year-long deal for an undisclosed fee.

Dundee United - Glenn Middleton joins the team

Signed in for an undisclosed fee, Glenn Middleton - a Rangers’ winger - will be joining the Dundee United Football Club on a three-year contract. The 22 year-old has previously spent four years at Ibrox since 2018 and made 29 first-team appearances and scored five goals. Dundee United Head Coach Jack Ross says that the team is “really excited to have Glenn here” and that “he will be a brilliant addition to the squad”. For a player under 21, Middleton has already played an impressive number of matches, and his career at Dundee United only brings him more prospects for international success.
