Premiership Round Up Saturday 24th October 2026
Gers turn up the heat as Celtic sit out
With Celtic and Hearts playing on Sunday this weekend, Saturday provided an open door for the chasing pack to make some noise. Rangers took full advantage at Ibrox, cruising to an emphatic Rangers 4 - 0 St Johnstone victory.
The win extends the Light Blues' unbeaten streak to eight league outings and leaves their recent form reading five wins from six (WWWWDW). More crucially, it cuts the gap at the summit to a single point, with Rangers sitting in second on 23 points behind leaders Celtic (24 points with a game in hand). For St Johnstone, the heavy defeat drops them down to eighth place on 12 points with their goal difference taking a hit to -4.
Five unbeaten for United after five-goal thriller
The game of the afternoon came at Tannadice, where Dundee United edged out Aberdeen in a breathless encounter, running out Dundee United 3 - 2 Aberdeen winners. That result stretches United's impressive unbeaten run to five matches (LDWWDW across their last six).
The three points propel Dundee United up into fourth spot on 15 points, crucially lifting them above their city rivals. Aberdeen, meanwhile, are left lingering down in ninth position on 11 points after suffering their fifth league defeat of the campaign.
Buddies stop the rot in Paisley
Over in Paisley, St Mirren finally put an end to their miserable slump with a hard-fought St Mirren 2 - 1 Dundee triumph. Having endured five straight league defeats prior to kick-off, this was a massive afternoon for the Buddies.
The win elevates St Mirren into top-six territory, moving up to sixth place on 13 points. Dundee slip down to fifth on 14 points, just one point above the Paisley side after failing to build on their previous positive form.
Bairns cruise while Killie slide towards danger
Falkirk continued their strong recent showing with a dominant performance at home, dispatching Kilmarnock with a comprehensive Falkirk 3 - 0 Kilmarnock victory. That marks back-to-back league wins for the Bairns (DWDLWW), taking them up to seventh spot on 12 points and levelling their goal difference at zero.
It was a grim afternoon for Kilmarnock, who remain stuck on eight points in 11th place. Killie's goal difference has now slumped to a league-low -13, leaving them teetering just one point ahead of basement side Hibernian and level with tenth-placed Motherwell.
Midweek action comes thick and fast
With the table tightly packed from fourth down to ninth, the Premiership swings straight back into gear on Wednesday 28th October. Rangers face a testing trip to third-placed Hearts, while Celtic return to host high-flying Dundee United. Elsewhere, Aberdeen welcome Falkirk, Dundee host Kilmarnock, St Johnstone take on Motherwell, and St Mirren square off against Hibernian.
