port-ton
Motherwell has been by far the worst town i've been to in Scotland. I come from Port Glasgow but even i couldn't believe just how run down and awful the place looked. The people there were by far the unfriendliest i've come across aswell, so when you put those two together then there is no contest im afraid.
madmitch
I always think that bad areas are tragic for the people who live there. Generally the Scottish are friendly people who are very helpful, kind and show a tremendous desire to enjoy themselves and get on together. There are always exceptions of course but that tiny proportion make these areas what they are. So nominate the c**ts who have made these areas what they are: Tony Blair David Cameron / Whoever the other one is? Have to agree with this. My work has exposed me to people dealing with levels poverty that have no place in a so called civilised society. So I ain't for joining in but see Greenock ....
Hedgecutter
But seriously I think the area around Parkhead has to be the biggest dump I have ever seen and I have been to Eastern Europe and Latin America. Aushwicz looks more inviting and welcoming than it. Show us some Parkhead streetview images to back this up please. I've been past there, I know it's undesirable but it's not that bad in the grand scheme (boom tish) of things.

Adam
I've lived in Shettleston/Tollcross for five years now, and whilst some parts are pretty horrible, it's nowhere near as bad as some of the places mentioned on here!

Mushroom
In recent years the only place where I have been unsettled by a place in daylight rather than individual people is Ibrox. Then sure enough some jakie did start shouting, not sure at who - but I wasn't about to draw attention to myself by asking him. I think I'll give that a miss if I go on a subcrawl again.
HoBNob
All part of what I refer to as The Ring of Despair: X marks the bombing spot which will also blow out a huge crater which will double as a giant open-cast coal mine to help any redevelopment. This can later be flooded to increase the size of Loch Ore which can then get a marina and have enough space for some luxury yachts. I live in that
Bill Carr
Clydebank. Has it ever recovered from the Blitz? I also dislike Edinburgh very much - spot the Scot. Its just a dull, dreary grey shitehole full of student scum and pretentious wankers. It really needs to get with the times. -
Raidernation
New here, so apologies if already mentioned, but:- Lybster (in Caithness). I mean just go there! Livingston (unless you want to buy shoes or teenage girl clothes) Bathgate (ironically has the word "bath" in there) Aviemore (back to the fu.......cking past)
Bill Carr
Terrible 1st post. Livingston & Bathgate are easily two of the best places to live in the central belt, if not the best two. -

Bill Carr
Fine trolling once again. Is the wrong answer. Of course they're 2 of the better places in Central Scotland. Relatively affluent, the standard of housing and general living is above average, plenty of well paid jobs in the area, close to Edinburgh and Glasgow and with excellent transport links, plenty of shops & restaurants etc. How are they not good towns to live in? Their location is perfect. With the exception of Edinburgh/Glasgow I'd love to see you name anywhere better.
Tenpot
Fraserburgh, Stranraer, Holytown. Agree that Dunbeth seems to be surprisingly pleasant especially as its part of Coatbridge. Worst area in Falkirk is difficult, personally have to go for Langlees. Despite the new houses, it's still a hole. Special mention to Hallglen and Incestquarter. That more like it

I don't know how long it's been since you've been in Bathgate but things have changed my friend. The houses are mainly council houses, the busiest office in Bathgate is the Job Centre, jakeys on the trains, a shit tonne of charity/pound shops and more than a hefty selection of takeaways that specialise in chips and curry sauce. And neds. Loads and loads of neds. The precinct is busier Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm than any other time! It's earned it's spot on chavtowns.co.uk. My nomination for worst area is anywhere west of Bathgate (including Bathgate) and Fife! It's just weird over there! But, as I've said before, I love your bridies! -
DAFC
Was that the one across the road from the Carnegie Centre? Might be a blessing in disguise really if they have to demolish it. The old giant Coopy thing sat towards the bottom of the High St for donkeys years until they were forced to build the new bus station. Also, where exactly is this new Tesco site? Struggling to think where they'd put it. http://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=56.072958,-3.462732&spn=0.000012,0.009602&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=56.072897,-3.463304&panoid=PF0ErtNaTZ0iUQgHcBROkg&cbp=12,324.75,,0,-9.05 They knocked down the furniture shop and also shut off the street beside it, which was a very handy route for getting out to the other side of town. Also they took away most of the parking for the new Carnegie Centre (genius!). It has been put on hold until next Feb and you're right it's very similar to the COOP situation. I don't know how the council allowed this to happen again, especially when Tesco are still building elsewhere. They've fucked up a town centre. http://www.thecourier.co.uk/News/Fife/article/23682/tesco-confirms-big-delay-in-dunfermline-store-project.html

Swampy
Have to agree with this. My work has exposed me to people dealing with levels poverty that have no place in a so called civilised society. So I ain't for joining in but see Greenock .... A lot of Greenock is deprived, yes, but huge parts of it are just normal. And a surprising amount of Greenock is actually very wealthy as well. I think once a town's over 30,000 in size you'll see quite a lot of variance in it. It's only the smaller places that are either entirely poverty-stricken or 100% leafy.
