Spartans 4-0 University of Stirling in lowland league. This one was over by half time with Spartans playing well and being aided by the Uni keeper having a nightmare. Spartans 4th goal was probably the pick of the bunch. Second half was bit of a let down with a red card for Stirling number 2 being the only thing of note. Decent crowd considering how cold it was.

Western Lge Div 1 at Fryth Way (2nd v 1st) Nailsea & Tickenham 0 Brislington 4 att 100+ decent game, visitors 20 up when the hosts down to ten men - two footed lunge off the ground. Very easy afterwards, clinical from the leaders. N&T doing well in their first season, this a good wake up call.20230314_204854.thumb.jpg.dc8ee5c04353bef7ae78685ee1d37c43.jpg20230314_192804.thumb.jpg.0c007c289a79c4d079bfa859f71ffbb7.jpg

If there hadn't been photos I'd have said you made those teams up. Cracking names! Looks a decent wee park as well

Probably Whitehill's best week for years. After knocking Preston out of the King Cup last midweek and defeating promotion hopefuls Nitten away on Saturday, they got a stoppage time equaliser to take a point off second top Glenrothes at the San Fergie last night.
Glenrothes had led since the second minute and missed a few decent chances. Whitehill had a couple of their own and just about merited their point.
Absolutely Baltic and frost on the car windscreen after the game. Photo taken right at the start and the crowd did improve to about 60-70.

Spartans 4-0 University of Stirling 💥 @ Ainslie Park Stadium. Huge game at the top of the Lowland League. The home blew 💨 the students away with 4 1st half goals to stay in pole position. Stirling reduced to 10 men 🔴 in the 2nd half on a night to forget for them. Crowd 375.

‘Next home game v Stoneyburn Tue 21st Mar 1945’!

Is that just before their cup tie vs the Athenians?

Tynecastle 2-3 Sauchie East of Scotland premier league. Entertaining game under the lights at Meggatland. Sauchie scored and had a man sent off inside the first couple of minutes. No idea what the red card was for. Tynecastle were then reduced to 10 following a heavy challenge in midfield but managed to equalise just on half time. Sauchie started second half stronger and scored a couple of well worked goals to go 3-1 ahead before Tynecastle pulled another back with a header from a set piece. Crowd of 448 made for a good atmosphere in a one of best grounds at this level. Great place to watch football.

Homophobic comment apparently.

Lyon 1-1 Nantes

Hadn’t been to a Ligue 1 game yet so picked this one. Poor crowd size compared to Lyon’s heyday but that can be excused since they’re having a tough season. Atmosphere was excellent for the 38000 however and the football was a welcome change from watching Ayr. Scrappy goal and a bizarre OG in the first 25 mins. Crowd absolute hate Aouar and Dembele and I’ve not yet researched why.4B1E8476-4387-4266-A890-6EC66B2D6AAE.thumb.jpeg.bd6c874aaa8c1649f568273ba2f9c50d.jpeg

Neilston 2-3 Clydebank

West of Scotland Cup quarter final. A journey to East Renfrewshire for us today and a first visit to Neilston. Once we had got through Glasgow and past the Waitroses and Stables we found Brig o'Lea Park being visited by Noah's flood.

Game on no problem though and the papers dominate the first half going up hill and have a two nil lead at the break. A third seconds into the second half looks to have sealed it but two goals from Neilston make it a far nervier last half hour than it looked like it may have been.

I like it here. Rustic? Yes. Basic, Yes. Wheelchair friendly? Not particularly. However a perfectly adequate ground for this level and we may well be back.

My first game with VAR in place was a Trip to Livingston today for the first time to see them beat Ross County 2-1. A game that seemed to come to life after the first goal. (Nouble header, after a great assist from penrice)

Livi went 2-0 up a minute later with a strike from Devlin after County made a mess of clearing their lines. After that, livi seemed to do well until County brought on the Murray and Callaghan and got their reward with a goal knocked in by Murray. Flag went up for offisde, then a var check for that and handball before the goal was given. County then had a great chance to equalise before (i think it was penrice) threw himself infront of the shot. Penrice, Nouble,Montana were brilliant.
missed the attendance, couldn’t find a programme (but are maybe on sale in the club shop)

Glos County League: Patchway 3 Wick 1 att 45. Good display by the young hosts, growing confidence among the players. Two quickfire goals in 2nd half sealed the win, although Wick had plenty of chances but couldn't take any. (Patchway black and white stripes)  New  community pavilion built, with cafe etc, progressing slowly.20230318_152747.thumb.jpg.4138413db7df6b33b724a228cbf51920.jpg20230318_152909.thumb.jpg.9ff3b831a0f52b3071eeffb13712e8b2.jpg

Musselburgh Athletic V Broxburn Athletic in the East of Scotland league. A very surprising 4-0 win for Broxburn who were excellent. Very surprised at how poor Musselburgh were. £8 to get in and £2 for a programme. Crowd was 557 which was swelled as it was part of the Groundhop weekend. Which helped as my rota meant I have no Weekend days off in March so managed to get a game in.

Left home at 6.30 yesterday to meet my son at Stirling train station to get the train to Inverness and a second train to Elgin. 4 mins into our 2nd train we found out the Elgin v Stenny game was called off. Got off at Elgin anyway, went to the stadium and went back into town for a couple of beers and to decide what to do.

Decided to go to Lossiemouth v Clach. Not great quality, but feisty enough to be enjoyable. The Clach no's 21, 15 &16 were the best players on show, pies weren't great, but the beach was. 2-0 to Clach.

Massive shout out to Scotrail for not only making an already long train journey back home more unbearable by the constant stops and no wifi or phone charging facilities, but for making me and my son miss our last connections home. resulting in me paying £60 for a taxi...cnuts!
