Do you have a penchant for underachieving teams from the north-east playing in red and white?

🤣

Just ease of access and cost this time. Original plan was to head to Huddersfield but it got moved to Half 5 kick off so just taking lazy option now.

Spartans 1-4 Bonnyrigg Rose 🌹 @ Ainslie Park last night. The Rose reach the South Challenge Cup 🏆 Final with a deserved win. Ahead after 2 minutes, the woodwork did save Bonnyrigg twice at 2-0 but they led 4-0 until a late consolation. Sauchie or Auchinleck await. 🧮 Crowd 400 odd.

I got one previously in 2019 but it was a season ticket resale.  Only got it day before we flew out..

I also had one in November this year but the game got called off for covid when I was on the way to the airport, I got someone off a Facebook group to hook me up because they are a member.  Double gutted cause I had a ticket for the süd.

I'm going to that Darmstadt game (hopefully) too, tickets aren't yet on sale.  It's usually quite short notice.

Fucking yas.  Pretty close to where I was in that picture.

Berlin derby yesterday. Considering I would’ve otherwise been at Alloa v Clyde, it wasn’t too bad.

BFC Dynamo v Carl Zeiss Jena today.

How did you get on at BFC v Jena? I watched it online and the atmosphere looked decent.

Rob Roy 4-1 Cumbernauld United

5 brilliant goals including 2 from former Clyde and Queen of the South striker Gary Arbuckle. Weird that Cumbernauld were the away team at Guys Meadow. Hopefully not too long before Kirky are back home d60c526905d79060d38f763a708fec81.jpg9fa672789aa4b184391e13c8350076be.jpg

Had a bit of a nightmare with that one. Hadn’t realised they had moved stadium so made our way to the old one. Saw the floodlights and thought “Great, that must be it!”, so got ourselves a couple of beers from a nearby shop and sat for about an hour or so waiting to go in to the game.

I had been to a BFC game in 2019, albeit an away game to Viktoria Berlin, and could remember them having quite a lively support at that game so I  thought it was a bit weird that we hadn’t seen the crowd starting to build with club colours on etc but didn’t think too much of it and just assumed that we were round the opposite site of the ground from all the pre match shenanigans. About 20 mins to kick off we realised we were at the wrong fucking ground so jumped in a taxi and missed the first 15/20 minutes (including 2 goals). Nearly never got in at all but thankfully the ticket office took pity on us.

Thought the game itself was quite poor but Jena got a late penalty to win it so at least we saw one goal. Would’ve been typical had it finished 1-1 and we had missed both goals (last time I went to see them it finished 0-0).

Sunderland 3-2 Shrewsbury Town. Sunderland dominated first half and were deserving of their 2-0 lead. Clearly thought they had game won and took foot off the gas at start of second half which allowed Shrewsbury back into game and they got game back to 2-2. Sunderland manage to scrape winner in injury time. Crowd of just under 34,000 there .

They'll be going back to the Jahn Sportpark next season if they go up to the 3. Bundesliga but they're hoping to eventually develop the Sportforum as their long term home. I was hoping to get to a game there this season but not going to happen now.

Ormiston 1-1 Dalkeith Thistle
A lovely spring evening for some football. A very basic ground, but a very friendly club. People I spoke to were all very welcoming. Dalkeith were the better side, but they didn't finish their chances and Ormiston defended really well. Attendance was around 80.

Jeanfield Swifts 6-1 Tynecastle.

Three quick goals midway through the first half had the hosts in control. Tynie got one back just before the break and looked to have gotten themselves back into it but Jeanfield scored twice quickly after half time and put the result beyond any doubt. Decent game, fantastic pies and a lovely night for a game. Well worth the trip.

Derby County 2 Fulham 1 @Pride Park 15/04/22.
Fulham perhaps with most of the possession and chances, but Derby worth their win, worked their socks off throughout the 2nd half. Certainly didn’t feel like a top Vs bottom clash. Probably a little too late for the Rams though.  Att 23,773

That's  my kind of groundhopping. Get drunk and go to the wrong place.

Arniston Rangers 0-3 Haddington Athletic. New ground for me today. Haddington open up 5 point lead on Leith in title race with this win. Good game with both sides trying to play football.
