DVO'32 2-5 HBSS
Another game in the category: "I'm in the area anyway so why not". Tier 8 in The Netherlands, first half the hosts were by far the better side but they completely collapsed. Basic ground with a decent bar inside. As it started pishing it down, quite a few of the 100 or so in attendence, myself included, moved inside.

Tomorrow I'll board the ferry to Newcastle so this was my last one on the continent for a while.

Pollok v Auchinleck Talbot this afternoon.

A top-of-the-table six-pointer in the West of Scotland Premier. Torrential rain, six goals, dodgy goalkeeping, dodgy penalties, three red cards, Pollok played the last 25 minutes with 8 men despite being 3-2 up at that point, and held out for a draw. Pretty sterile affair, otherwise.

Totally forgot to post here after going to Crossgates Primrose v Dunbar Athletic on Saturday rather than schlepping down to Dumfries to see the Pars lose.

The ground was basic to put it mildly; no cover, no steps of terracing and no floodlights that I could see. There was a wee snack bar though and the coffee was appreciated in the cold and rain of the afternoon. The pitch looked in decent condition though.

I left before the end but from the game I did see it was a tale of 4 keepers - the regular Dunbar custodian was on holiday (Sub 1 to crowd: "Who the f**k takes a holiday during the season?" Sub 2: "You were in Barcelona last week min") so their reserve took his place between the posts. After going 1-0 up, the keeper then went up for a high ball and landed awkwardly clearly in some pain. The physio was called for and after a long delay he got up and play restarted. One of the management walking past suggested he dislocated his knee and it had been popped back in 🤢. A few moments later though his race had been run as it seemed to pop out again while making a save. With no other goalie available, an outfield player had to go in goals but Crossgates didn't really put him under any pressure despite having lots of possession in the middle of the park. They did equalise with a fine low shot from distance in the second half but a matter of minutes later the 4th of our keepers, the Crossgates goalie, managed to claim a cross ball then drop it straight at the grateful feet of a Dunbar player to make it 2-1. The Crossgates fans near me were lamenting the fact that he'd been in good form this season. Such is the way of things. Crossgates huffed and puffed but didn't look like putting the outfield goalie under any pressure so I left early.20211002_145219.thumb.jpg.7c72421c95f9991085be66d36956647a.jpg

Going by that photo you must have been near me.

You missed the 2nd equalizer and the Crossgates winner and the weather wasn't even that bad...

Defiantly a more enjoyable experience than watching our pish.

Burntisland Shipyard 2-3 Lochore Welfare
An excellent night of football. Lovely ground and a great game for a neutral. It was a good decision to move the game to a Friday night as it was very busy, the attendance was 211.

Made a trip to the Borders today, so stuck around to take in a game.

Gala Fairydean Rovers 2 Civil Service Strollers 3

An entertaining game, and the AVFTT film crew was there to see it. The Gala keeper looked pretty iffy early on, and that'd be more costly later. Civil the better team without doing anything meaningful until both teams exchanged great chances around 20 minutes.

A deserved penalty for Gala put them 1-0 up at HT, but they had a second very harshly ruled out for a supposed foul on the keeper. Looked like he just dropped it and the ref took pitty on him.

Civil much better after the break, but a goal kick mess up and the Gala goalie completely missing a long punt forward saw Civil 2-1 up. Terrible goals to lose.

Gala's equaliser late on by far the goal of the game; a lovely curling effort from the corner of the penalty box to the lower corner of the far post. But only a few minutes later, Civil win it with a deflected shot.

Really good fun on my first trip down that way.

ETA - Was going to go to the Berwick - Vale game but the trains didn't work out (replacement buses today). Shame, was wanting to see if they're as bad it they sound. Just the 11 today...

Not particularly random as I'm an Aldershot supporter. But I don't get to see them that regularly, so popped down to Stockport today to see them. Decent performance, but frustrating that we switched off at a free kick and that proved the winner. Impressive crowd of over 6000.
