DiegoDiego
Liventina 1-1 Nervesa. Some Eccellenza (fifth tier) action for me this afternoon and I was quite surprised by the step up from Promozione. The level was probably similar to what Thistle fans will be seeing in League One next season.Liventina are from the rival town of where I live and for all the chat I hear from them about how great their set up is (the youth teams have a link with Inter) there weren't any more fans than at a normal Opitergina game. There were a fair number of Nervesa supporters there including an absolute stunner (presumably wag) whom I noticed for the first time when we were the only ones to laugh when a player got the ball blootered off his coupon. They did have sausages grilling outside though and their brule was nicer than Opiterginas (extra cloves I reckon).1-1 was a fair result, Liventina's goal was the result of some comedy defending and the equaliser was a nice header. A decent day out somewhat tarnished by the usual inadequacies of Italian public transport.
German Jag
Arrived into Tirana on Friday lunchtime. In a pub on the Friday where the channel got switched over just before the start to the Albania - Malta U21 friendly. Asked the bar man whereabouts the venue was, got told it was a couple of minutes taxi away. Couple of minutes later me & and a mate are in the Stadiumi Selman Stërmasi, shared home of Dynamo, Partizan & KF Tirani. Nobody manning any of the entrance gates, so just walked in (at 1/2 half time headed back out for a couple of cans and back in again). As expected, not exactly classic football, but enjoyable enough with Albania running out 2-0 winners, ca. 300 in attendance. Roker Rover
Done 4 games in the Czech Republic, 5 in Poland plus one in Croatia so far this year. I am currently planning a Baltic trip with my wife and would like to do a few games in Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia over the summer months. Been to all but 6 of the 134 current league grounds in England and Scotland. but over the last few years I have been spreading my net further afield and am now up to over 30 games in Europe. Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Friday week ago it was Royal Antwerp v KV Oostende and a cracking old ground.
Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Next day and we popped over to Germany for Alemannia Aachen v Borussia Dortmund II. I was amazed by how much noise 5,300 people can make or, more particularly, a few hundred behind the goal. They only stopped at half time; it was incessant.

Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Last Saturday was Royal Albert v Shettleston - poor facilities but absolutely fantastic soup at £1 a cup. Also got a 2-2 thriller with two red cards and quite a few yellows. Great value for £5.

AsimButtHitsASix
Used to know a bunch of Swedish punk bands who toured regularly and they all seemed to be Hammarby fans. As for drinking: get yourself a night out on one of the boats that goes to the Aland Islands and back. Just get drunk on duty free beer with middle aged Swedes dancing to ABBA. It's atrocious. Ye'll love it.
stevieKTID
Fort William 0 v Rothes 5I've been staying up in Torlundy the last few days so headed along to see The Fort in action, Rothes knocked it about quite neatly in spells which was quite impressive given the state of the pitch, good day out in a gorgeous location.

Theres bits about it in the "mis-matched pre season friendlies" thread. Plus a guy who seems to know that bit of the footballing world.
DiegoDiego
L.R. Vicenza 4-2 Südtirol.A nice trip out to Vicenza and the first time in Italy that I've encountered any sort of atmosphere around town on the day of a game. Although it's a new club playing in Serie C they have an impressive 7,660 season ticket holders.Vicenza would have gone top with a win and for the first half hour they dominated a Südtirol team that lacked pace and imagination. The home side scored after seven minutes through a curious own goal and looked at have a second only for the linesman to change his mind after a chat with the ref. Südtirol grabbed a nice headed equaliser just before the break against the run of play.It was more even in the second half but Vicenza found themselves 3-1 down to two quick goals on the break. After that out was all Vicenza and they got one back after a clearance feel to their centre-back who smashed a rising shot into the roof of the net from outside the box for the second goal of his career. Due to Vicenza's efforts to pull level they left themselves exposed at the back and Südtirol restored the two goal advantage with a tap in after fresh legs (five subs are allowed in Serie C) again broke up the pitch. It was Vicenza's first home defeat and I'm still yet to see a home side win in Italy.
Jute
Last minute decision to head to Spartans v Newtongrange Star tonight in the football nations qualifying cup. ETA: Spartans won 3-2. Spartans were leading 2-0 with 20 to go when Newtongrange got 2 quick goals to draw level. Spartans then got a third and Newtongrange lost the plot with two players being sent off in last few minutes. Surprisingly small crowd for a Friday night game. Marten
Kilmarnock 3-0 HibsReally good game from Killie, quite impressed with them. Hibs were poor. Two power cuts in the second half meant the game finished much later than expected. At some point I thought the game would be abandoned and the fans around were quite anxious. The Hibs fans were clearly not happy with the game resuming!
Craig fae the Vale
Pollok 1 Glenafton Athletic 1 in the Junior Cup replay on Saturday. Pollok won on penalties when their keeper saved all three of Glenafton's efforts. Not the best game I've ever seen but I was working about 10 minutes away until the back of 1 and it was a perfect opportunity to finally get to Newlandsfield
