What Are You Drinking ?

Recommended Posts

You have elderflowers already, where are you residing ? mine nowhere near flowers yet. Love elderflower makes all sort of decent drinks. I remember a nice elderflower beer in Korcula (Croatia) a few years back. Was tremendously refreshing in the heat.
I'm mid-way between the Alps and the Adriatic, the elder started blooming about a month ago. I've two trees very close to me. They're by a main road but due to the lockdown the traffic was negligible when I harvested them.

I used to live in Denmark and they're mad on elderflower there. I'm pretty happy how this batch has turned out. I got the method from the Hunter Angler Gardener Cook website, which is mainly about food but has the odd drink thrown in. It's by far the best culinary website I've ever seen.
He has a two thousand word post on making flour from acorns and a mustard recipe adapted from a Roman source but also some really quick and easy recipes. He knows his shite like nobody else but never talks down to the reader and there's always some great tip which helps you understand why you're doing the things you do.

yeah i’ve had a few times. tiny rebel has some decent beers.

I visit Cardiff, I've been to Newport as well but the less said about that the better. Their pub next to the Millennium Stadium is brillant. I could spend days in it. Food is good as well. The next pub along is this mob, a small chain of pubs and breweries

https://www.zerodegrees.co.uk, also well with a visit.

Then I drop into Breed of which is the next along again.

ETA. Breed? Brewdog!

Cardiff is a great pub city. Unfortunately, my favourite, the Rummer Tavern, got taken over and made into a sports bar.

Ordered some of that from Tesco. Still got time to change my order.

Edit. Didn’t see your response. I’m giving it a go.

It's awrite, 1 can is enough tho! If your gonna get a few belters from Tesco go for the SALT 8% DIPA pink cans, the SALT collab with Magic Rock and the North Brewing - Lost Comp, loads of belters to be fair! Cannonbll from Magic Rock too, lovely stuff!

Is there a beer thread or is this where all the chat goes? I was in the Top 5s thread yesterday.

Don't have a Tesco near me but been using Morrison's and delighted they've been doing 4packs of Northern Monk stuff. 4 cans of Faith are down to £5 right now which is phenomenal value.

Will be drinking some more of my homemade weissbier tonight, of which I tried the first lastnight. I felt it lacked body but Mrs B thinks it's great. It certainly carries the bready/banana type flavour and cloudiness that the style dictates. Let's see if drinking more than 1 affects my verdict.....

I drank a few cans of Singha on Wednesday night and they are definitely filed in the same category as Stella as beers that just totally do not agree with me.

had a few cans of this the other night. thought it was decent. 6 cans for£6 asda

There is a more specialised thread entitled Beer, Lager and Cider something. I'm sure you could find it, in General Nonsense and bump it. Derek Paterson used to write excellent reviews.

Wow sounds great, my elder flowers in about another month and I have used both the flowers as an "infusion " and I have a wine making friend who has used the berries if I don't use too much flower or the starlings get them. Elder gin was excellent.
