I felt a bit sorry for Bundee Aki at the weekend, he got red carded for clearing out the jackler and making contact with his head. However his head was lower than his hips and would have been near impossible to clear him (or hit the ruck in general) without making contact with his head. INfact Aki's head made contact with the jacklers shoulder before Aki's shoulder hit his head. Its getting to the point where you may as well not contest a ruck if your not first there and just concede the turnover as you'll give away a penalty

The point is that Aki shouldn't have made the clear out attempt at all.

Encouraging the ball carrier to actually release the ball when the jackaler has his hands on would solve a lot of this. Some kind of team penalty where multiple infringements lead to a card.

And at the same time enforce that the tackle is released and no jackal attempts until the tackle is fully complete ie if the tackler is still touching the ball carriers arms then no contest allowed.

He said sorry eventually, which gets him four weeks off, but only gets two added back on for being a repeated offender, both in terms of the red card offence and the reaction to the referee.

That doesn't seem right
