Barclay retires from international rugby after 76 caps. Could probably have reach the 100 mark if he hadn't been frozen out for so long.

I think it's the right thing, he's probably doing us a favour to be honest. Ritchie, Bradbury, Watson, Skinner and Fagerson are ready now. I'm sure Barclay could be persuaded to come back in an emergency. It's also good for Edinburgh.

I think it probably is the correct call also. Better to bow out now than not be picked for the 6N squad, saves the questions and speculation etc.

Im also sure he has got an eye on a media gig during the tournament also, i remember him being quite good while he was out injured.

Wonder if anyone else will now follow his lead and decide that their best days are behind them?

I think Laidlaw, Wilson and Seymour must be thinking it. Still plenty to to offer the game, but probably been overtaken by some youngsters coming through in the same position. Wouldn't be massively surprised if Taylor and Maitland decided to drop out as well.

Townsend should be down on his knees begging Maitland to stay on. And although Tommy is probably done at Test level we are only a couple of injuries away from starting him. The same goes for Wilson, he might currently be the 6 or 7th back row but you need 4 in the 23 and 5 or 6 in the wider squad.

It's time for Laidlaw to stand aside though.

Can see Huw Jones deciding international rugby just isn’t for him.

I'm sure he is, but Maitland is 31, probably isn't making the next world cup and might decide he prefers just playing for Saracens and having summer holidays. I think he'll probably do the 6 nations, but that might be it, especially if it's another shiter.

Only five for me!

I managed 7, and that includes Jim Telfer.

Nakawara has finally had his contract terminated by Racing 92. Would love to see him back in Glasgow, but doubt the SRU would stump up the cash. Sale were already talking about making a move for him a couple of weeks ago.

Glasgow are certainly making noises about being in for him. It sounds like he was happy at Glasgow before, and maybe hasn't been at Racing. I don't know, if we can somehow sell it as coming home to the club and city that loves him he might come back. If he just wants to make loads of money we've no chance.

Dismal start to the 7s season for Scotland in Dubai as they are going to end up in 14th place after losing to Kenya. They lost all 3 section games, losing heavily to Australia, going down 24-21 to the USA, then losing to Ireland by a point with the Irish scoring with the final play of the game.

Seems that Nakarawa was punted for "deplorable insubordination". Didn't realise that w****r, Heyneke Meyer, had turned up at Racing...

Spoiler

He hasn't but he punted Djibril Camara from Stade for hurting his feelings and then punted Sergio Parisse for refusing to retire. Man's a c**t. Thankfully, he's no longer Stade coach.

No secret as to my thoughts on Nakarawa. Bring him back and make him the highest paid player ever purely for upsetting Racing 92.

Would be a huge signing for Glasgow to get Nakarawa - he's one of the best players in the world and fits right in with how Glasgow want to play

If we could get him back as fit as he was with us before he'd make such a difference. Get him to drop a couple of stone and back to being the swaggering offload king he was before. I'm starting to get too excited about this.
