Scotland 86-0 Serbia earlier.

Tonga 14-6 Great Britain in Hamilton (NZ) to - rather embarrassingly - commence first 'Lions' campaign since 2007.

Seemed strange that they would play a match in New Zealand at the same time the Union boys had a WC semi-final? The test next week is on in the afternoon with the Rugby Union WC Final in the evening their time which makes some sense, but why was this game played at night in front of a small crowd and presumably a small TV audience?

Agreed... tbf watching BBC highlights crowd looks mainly ex-pat Tongans (hymns et al) - maybe few NZ locals would've come anyway.

To be fair Gatland’s Wales team is a fantastic advert for watching Rugby League instead, or for that matter watching Ice hockey, Golf, bog snorkelling or Tiddlywinks

Greece v Scotland this Friday is being held in White Hart Lane... not that one... aka New River Stadium in London. Serbia were late replacements for Russia so the Greeks (no doubt mainly Australian ex-pats) should be better, but shouldn't trouble Scotland - and anyway avoiding bottom means qualification for RLWC 2021 in England.

Other automatic qualifiers (QFs in 2017) were Australia, Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Lebanon. France and Wales had also qualified by finishing top 2 in last year's European Championship. Europe's final 4 places will go to 2 of Ireland/Italy/Spain (the Irish won 42-8 in Madrid yesterday) and 2 of Greece/Scotland/Serbia. Rather embarrassingly for the organisers Jamaica topped American qualifying ahead of USA/Canada/Chile. Remaining place goes to winner of repechage final USA v Cook Islands (who smashed South Africa in repechage SF).

Two similar teams not able to use their running game especially with Cheslin Kolbe and Liam Williams injured. However they're both having an arm wrestle as a Plan B. I wish Scotland could do that.

Thomas Francis and George North's WC are over and could probs miss tge 1st couple of rounds of Europe maybe? Looked sore ones.

Also, does anyone care to offer an explanation? Just before h/t Glasgow were 6-0 down but they get a penalty. Instead of kicking up the park for a line out to try to get points on the board before h/t Nick Frisby just taps and kicks the ball out for h/t to begin. Why would he have done that? Odd.

I thought it was a decent decision at the time given how badly things were going. Get back to the dressing room and sort things out. Unfortunately Rennie sent Thomson back out in the second half to kill the game in 7 farcical minutes.

I find it strange that Bradbury who played 3 RWC games can come back in for Edinburgh as well as Pyrgos and Kinghorn but Glasgow couldn't bring back Hastings, either Horne or Turner. Everything at Scotstoun seems half arsed at the moment.
