Stevieda
Russell called up for barbarians. Useful to get a game against England I suppose but he needs a long rest and hopefully come back on form.

come on shire
With the Canada and USA games that'll be 2 nights of 4am bedtimes lol. That's up to 4 for any of us watching Scotland's footy games vs Peru and Mexico? As for Glasgow, Rennie has laid decent foundations. Disappointing end but it's been a season of transition having his first shot of a northern hemisphere league. Obviously Europe was disappointing but it was a new experience for a Southern hemisphere coach so fingers crossed we can have a better bash at it next season. On the other hand, it's been his knowledge of Southern hemisphere rugby that helped us get the win at the Cheetahs imo. However, the concern is the away form during the 6 Nations onwards. To win at tough venues you have to front up and be physical. Same with the league play-offs which can be arm wrestles. Whilst allowing the Scarlets easy tries with missed tackles at home is unacceptable, we seriously lacked a violent, aggressive edge at the forward battle. Losing Nakarawa, Reid and Strauss has been a blow. Ryan Wilson is a clever player and a leader but these guys were physical hurting machines that could compete in battle. Hopefully the American lad coming in will provide some grunt. Adam Ashe is another physical presence but his luck has been awful with injuries the last 2 years. His brother has signed for the footy team I follow, East Stirlingshire in the Lowland League. Small world lolol. Overall though, a Glasgow final in the Pro 14, with the Euro finals just down the road in Newcastle, are massive carrots for Glasgow. However, Dave Rennie MUST read the riot act to his forwards coaches in pre-season. Edited May 25, 2018 by come on shire

HibeeJibee
Qualifying for RLWC 2021 will be this autumn:https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/world-cup-2021-qualification-stages-for-europe-and-americas-revealed/ The next stage of qualification for the 2021 World Cup has been revealed for Europe and the Americas. France, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will meet in the 2018 European Championship, over three weekends in October and November, with the top two automatically qualifying for the main tournament, joining the eight quarter-finalists from 2017. The nations finishing third and fourth will face Italy, the two top teams from Euro B, which features Russia, Serbia and Spain, as well as winners of Euro C (comprising six nations) in October and November in 2019. The top two from the three-team pools will make the 2021 final, taking the total European representation up to seven of the 16 nations – the 2021 tournament expanded overall by two from 2017. In the Americas, four nations are eligible for the qualifying tournament to be held towards the end of this year, with the recent granting to Chile of affiliate membership of the Asia Pacific confederation. The first South Americans to be included, they join Canada, Jamaica and the USA. The winners of that will qualify for the World Cup finals, with the runners up having the option to host a World Play-Off group in late 2019. David Collier, RLIF chief executive, commented: “The Rugby League International Federation is delighted to welcome new nations competing for World Cup qualification as the road to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup commences, in what we anticipate will be a highly competitive process. “The integration of the calendar, with confirmation of fixtures for the next two years, is vitally important for all nations to plan their course and for the international game to continue to grow.” Venues and dates are to be finalised, but the European Championship fixtures have been drawn as follows: Round 1 France v Wales Ireland v Scotland Round 2 Scotland v Wales Ireland v France Round 3 Wales v Ireland France v Scotland

Mark Connolly
Scotland lose 27-26 in the opening U-20s game. Scrum and Lineout were very poor, but somehow the ref managed to march Italy 60 yards to get the winning try.
