From the early prices out Kellett looks the value of the around at 17/10 to beat vdv who is well out of form and suffering from illness.

Big Peter Hudson at 9/2 will be worth a tenner against Wade I think as well. Wade's game is horrible at the minute and has been for some time although possible due to his illness as well.

Has Tripod packed it in now?

Nah, he's not packed it in - just wasn't good enough to qualify. I think the biggest 'surprise' is Mark Hylton not making it. He finished just outside the Top 32 so I was surprised that he wasn't near the Top 16 of the Pro Tour OOM which would have got him a place.

Not long to go now before the greatest show on earth gets started, I cannot wait. There's a preview show on at 6pm tonight, hopefully it's not too Taylor-centric.

Did you watch that Sid Wadell tribute programme? I thought it was harrowing. He was clearly at deaths door when it was filmed.

As much as I thought the guy was a trumpet, it was really sad to see :(

Yeah, I saw it when they aired it a few days after he died and watching it again yesterday wasn't any easier. Not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eye.

I know they've got a few tributes lined up for throughout the tournament as well, including an interview with Dave Lanning.

A good warm up tonight.Almost forgot how many classics there was last year.Lewis could of went first game.Wade blowing it against lewis. He would of beat hammer in the final i think.

I think taylor will win this year (not exactly an earth shattering prediction), But he will be right up for this. Not won in two years and would love to have his name first on sids trophy.Saw ladbrokes offering taylor or mvg to win at evens.Thought that was a good looking bet.

Can't argue with that from Rab nice way to bed in to the tournament averaging around 100 probably with some massive finishes. Still has a couple of gears to go up and will need to if he meets Taylor as expected in a few rounds.

Caris was fucking rotten though.
