Great day out on the bike today with 3 of my mates who also happen to be Police Officers , one of whom is responsible for the initiation of “Operation Close Pass”.
Has to be said they’re showing more than a passing interest in one of the regular posters on this forum and his continual attempts at creating hatred towards them and other fellow cyclists, not to mention his illegal videoing activities.
Just saying like .

Hahahaha what a minter

What a riddy. Either clyping on someone for winding you up on a forum or making up stories about copper mates coming after him.

A complete and utter simpleton.

Hoping to get into cycling (haven't cycled anywhere for about 12-15 years and pretty close to obesity), can anyone recommend some 'beginner' bikes that'll be good for a combination of commuting and maybe some light off road (trail) cycling?

Sounds pretty similar to me, I've came down a few waist sizes since I started cycling.

Hybrids would probably be ideal for you, I've got one for mainly road use and another for tracks and stuff.

I am supposed to be cycling London to Malmesbury tomorrow for a music festival and the weather is set for 39C.

Thirty fucking nine. Head off early then and take plenty of water. 🌡️

That's insane, you wouldn't think about doing it in a snow blizzard. Get the train to Swindon or Chippenham and get sunstroke from there.

An attempt on the women's Land's End to John O' Groats cycling record is currently underway.  Christina Mackenzie, originally from Stornoway and now living in Stirling, is currently ahead of schedule and is aiming to beat the current record of 2 days, 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Unfortunately she didn't manage it.  The climbs of northern Scotland proving too much after already riding almost 800 miles.  Finished about 2.5 hours down on the record.

Get yerself down the Leslie bike shop.  Those guys will get you set up with a storming bike at a price to suit.    I often joke with friends that bike shop is reason enough to move permanently to Glenrothes.  Of course I'm kidding but that's the kind of excellent humour we like to bounce of each other.

#Lesliebikeshop

It’s true, for the price of a Kia Ceed you can put a deposit down on a decent bike!

Indeed I've been down the #lesliebikeshop and he was quite the gentleman.   Chucked in a wee joke that next year I'll be able to cycle down to Glenrothes to get my bike serviced.  Naturally I reminded him cyclists are forbidden from driving on the M90 and he just gave me that look to say  'You're a cyclist now Grahame, you can do what you want".     At first I felt excited, my heart started to pound fasted causing the lowest button on the Under Armour polo to pop, and I reminisced back to youth - drinking in the street, chucking rocks at ducks, pissing in the river, using a pedestrian crossing without the help of the green man.     No, sorry this kinda lifestyle isn't for me and I thanked him for showing me round the #lesliebikeshop but I wasn't buying the S works.    Tripped 61mpg in the Ceed on the way home listening to the very best of Billy Joel.

Yes it is quite understandable that a person of limited means would not be buying the S-Works but kudos for at least taking the time to google “high end bikes”.
