India all out for 416, Lees was out for 6 as England were 16-1 when the rain came on. Early lunch being taken. Broad had taken his 550th test wicket not long before, but was brought crashing back to earth noting after. Has Broad not also gone for 6 sixes off an over as well? Pretty sure it was a 20/20 with Youvraj demolishing him He did. Can’t remember if it was T20 or ODI but you have the batsmen correct.

Day of the Lords
Terrific spell of bowling from India here to get England 80odds for 5. Terrific performance from Leach as a nightwatchman there
jaggyness
There was a discussion during the final NZ test about Duke balls becoming misshapen a lot and they believed some of it was due to the lack of production during lockdown and the materials deterioration whilst stored. I wonder if the same is relevant with respect to once the ball stops swinging it really is there for the batsmen to hit and get a big score
peasy23
I know England need to win but that was brainless again by Stokes. Dropped one ball, plays almost the same shot next ball and holes out this time.
PB1994
Stokes is an absolute idiot. Fantastic catch but he is taking this aggressive game plan too far..
Moomintroll
YJB at it again, has there ever been a Test Team where the 4,5,6 have been so much better than the Top order?

When India had Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman? OK you had Dravid at 3 but I’m struggling to think of many decent openers they had in that period.

Fair point, but as you already said they had The Wall at 3 so they had a better opener than their openers coming in first drop.
Clockwork
Another cracking effort from Jonny Bairstow, the lad is in some nic!
Moomintroll
Fair play to Virat Kohli as well, I am one of his biggest critics but he applauded the Century unlike most of his team mates.

Left Back
Potts is seething. Don’t blame him. There’s no way he’s caught that.
Clockwork
Inconclusive on the Shreyas catch to dismiss Potts, the ball seem to ‘pop’ for me, as the fielder fumbled an attempt to scoop it up, suggesting that it hit the ground first, Shreyas then snatching it with a second bite. Not suggesting that it was a deliberate attempt to claim the catch when the fielder knew the ball had been grounded, but the benefit of doubt has to go to the batsmen surely?

Third umpire has to give the benefit of doubt to the soft signal.

The on-field Umpire was in doubt judging by the time he took to indicate his ‘soft signal’ and also clearly consulted his colleague at Square Leg. Should have called ‘not out’ then referred upstairs. The third Umpire would also have declared uncertain, and upheld the decision. Fair call. Not that it’s going to make much difference in the grand scheme of things in this game!

Umpire should be 100% certain to give a soft signal of out.
Left Back
Just seen the catch that dismissed Kohli. That’s outrageous from Root.
Clockwork
Just seen the catch that dismissed Kohli. That’s outrageous from Root.Great anticipation and reflexes or a lack of confidence in Billings taking it cleanly!?
peasy23
England need 378 to win, it can be done but won't be easy. Need the top 3 batsmen to contribute something as there looks to be plenty in the pitch. 281 is the previous highest successful chase at Edgbaston.
