Australia racked up a hefty 348-8 against Pakistan. Pakistan are matching them all the way though, Stoinis has just got Fakhar out with an absolute jaffa, they are 118-1, exactly the same as Australia were at the same stage.

Genuinely think this is the poorest England side of my lifetime. The teams of the late 80's and early 90's were no great shakes either, but they at least competed against the 'lesser' nations of the era, and they were facing some of the most vicious attacks in the history of Test cricket, and often on wickets that would be deemed unsafe now. This lot capitulate against the world's most powderpuff attacks, can't score runs on absolute roads, and can't take wickets unless the opposition are actively helping them.

And yes, it's impossible to see how a change of coach, change of captain, and waiting around for a bit is going to change anything, because it's clear English cricket is now entirely geared toward twatting it across the line to set the fireworks off. It's bizarre how they've gone from being ten years behind the times in white ball cricket, nurdling it at 4RPO with Darren Maddy and Jeremy Snape bowling moonballs while everyone else was bowling yorkers and smashing it straight, to being completely and utterly incapable of playing any format of cricket that requires any sort of application, patience, or grit and determination.
This. I actually had a good look at last seasons highest averages in the county championship. Virtually everyone who had played a reasonable number of matches and was high up the rankings was either an overseas player or already someone who had failed at test level (see A Lyth). The ECB did a very good job of attracting younger generations with all the glitz, fireworks etc of T20 and ODI but it has come at a massive cost to the red ball game

Going to be almost impossible for England in the Women’s World Cup Final in Christchurch. Australia lost first wicket at 160/1 (Rachael Haynes 68) before Alyssa Healy was stumped for 170 at 316/2 then minor collapse to finish on 356/5. Might as well just hand the cup to the Aussies and head to the pub.

England scoring at a rate similar to Australia, but cruciially have been shipping wickets. Nat Sciver has 59 from 60 balls but with 4 wickets down she isn't getting much help at the other end.

Ooft.

Win the toss, put the opposition in, then bowl 50 overs of the most disjointed, aimless tripe I think I've ever seen. Every single one of the English bowlers looked like they'd won a competition to be there.

Fair play to the Aussie lassies for taking advantage, but somebody needs their collar felt for that display in the field.

Ross Taylor makes his final international appearance for New Zealand in the 3rd ODI against the Netherlands at Seddon Park, Hamilton. The way Guptil and Young are batting he might not have any/much time at the crease as NZ 170/1 after 33 overs.

ETA: Taylor came in at 215/2 and made 14 c & b van Beek. NZ 333/8 with Guptill 106 and Young 120.

In Perth Western Australia won the Sheffield Shield for the first time in 23 years. Final against Victoria ended in a draw but WA won on first innings bonus points.

Scotland are in Cricket World Cup League 2 action in Dubai at the moment. Thumped Papa New Guinea yesterday, but in a tougher game today against Oman. Oman are currently 76/2 from 21, chasing 216 to win.

Further fixtures against PNG and Oman still to come on Wednesday and Friday as well.
