How? We have a worse NRR than them going into the game, how could we lose and overtake them?
NRR is heavily impacted by the team that bats first. So if we were to be 121 all out in fewer than 20 overs our NRR would be better than Omans. Bear in mind that their NRR will have changed after their innings.

It is because Oman have batted less overs so their NRR is more negatively affected than Scotland's in a low scoring tight result.

If Oman had scored 124 I dont think this could even be a debate (although I haven't worked that out myself so apologies if thats wrong). Before the games the calculations looked like this:

I think if you're all out NRR is adjusted to make it as if you've batted all the overs... so you can't benefit by being all out.

The only time it wouldn't be stretched is if the innings finished early because the chasing team won the game with a ball/balls to spare.

That's what happened in Oman's first game when they won inside 14 overs. I'm guessing that's why we can still finish above them on NRR without winning, as the full 20 overs would be a higher percentage of the total.

Let's just hope we win the match, no messing.

EDIT: YorkshireRover has explained it better than me. 🙂
