Foakes hasn't exactly made a convincing argument for replacing Buttler in the test side in this series. I know it's difficult batting conditions but he really had to be a stand out to have any chance of becoming a regular behind the stumps

Just as India seemed to be getting on top Stokes gets Rohit Sharma lbw. The commentators will be seething as it was umpire's call on two counts, with the impact just on the very edge of the stumps and the ball just clipping the bails. Only downside for England at the moment is Bess's bowling, nowhere near good enough for this level.

121-5, 84 runs behind.

India 52 runs behind at tea with 6 wickets down. Crucially Pant is still at the crease. You'd probably fancy India to have a small first innings lead. If England can keep the lead under 40 it should still be interesting. What a difference having a Ben Stokes that is able to bowl if not at, then very close to his full ability. The spells he and Anderson had this morning were bordering on unplayable.

Pant gonna Pant! Wonderful stuff, another half hour of this and India almost out of sight.

ETA: oops #jinx
Can't help but feel this test is already as good as done in terms of the result. England would have to get close to 400 in their second innings to have a chance. No chance that's happening.
