rydo1982 Posted August 27, 2008 Share Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) Just been having a look through the SL racecards and noticed in the first at Ayr Mark Johnstons horse Tartan Gunna was forecast at 8/1 and is now priced at 11/4- not that the SL wbsite is the most accurate. Will have more of a look at in the bookies at lunchtime but thinking I might follow the cash there. Haitch Posted August 27, 2008 Share Posted August 27, 2008 I am backing one horse today. Ayr 16:10 Crow Wood 14/1 First caught the eye as I noticed it was running in a class 4 race. I normally associate this horse with class 1 and 2's. Right enough, this is only the second time in over 20 races it has entered at this level. Trainer, John Quinn's yard, is flying at the moment. Out of his last 11 runs he has had 9 placed. Quite a long way to come up from Yorkshire with only two horses.The jockey Graham Gibbons is also flying at the moment recording 11 places, 4 wins in his last 15 races! To add to all these positives, Crow Wood has run at Ayr twice before, winning one and coming 2nd in the other. 10f is his specialist distance and has won on todays good to soft ground. Crow Wood did race a couple of weeks back but was a reappearance from a lengthy break so would have used that to get back to some kind of decent fitness. In my opinion Crow Wood takes all the beating here today and at 14/1 is a massive price. Unfortunately the main one has been pulled from the race at the 48 hour stage, but the other one remains. I'll still send out the PM tomorrow night regarding the intended runner on Friday, and I'll keep the beast under my hat until it is down to run.
