invergowrie arab
The high bits of Angus are maybe a wee bit boggy and round but the through routes, Corries and glens are glorious. Wee wander round Glen Lee at the weekend chasing waterfalls. Edited October 6, 2020 by invergowrie arab
Futureboy
Decent weather up the Lairig Ghru this morning. It closed in fairly quickly on the tops mind you.
J_Stewart
Went up Ben Lomond yesterday with the wife and dog, was a cracking day for it. Went up the Ptarmigan ridge and back down the “tourist route”, glad we did it that way as Ptarmigan was a pretty decent climb (probably made marginally more difficult by stupidly going to football training the might before [emoji23]), whilst the tourist path didn’t seem like it’d be much of a challenge at all. As you’d expect, scenery was incredible Got to the summit about two minutes before a passing cloud completely engulfed everything [emoji23] Some view before it did though
afca32
It was a few weeks ago now but the persistent rain this morning had me dreaming of the glorious weather I had up the Devil's Point. Followed the Dee on the way there, which was worth it as the first 2 hours I passed literally no one, and came back the more conventional route through Glen Lui. Ended up on the wrong side of the Dee at one point which meant a thoroughly enjoyable river crossing.
Gnash
Looking for some advice please. The family and I going on holiday to the wilderness near Inverurie next week (apparently that's still allowed) and would like to climb Bennachie. It will, of course, be a piece of cake for a seasoned mountaineer like myself, but I'll be bringing a 4 year old and a somewhat overweight lady in her 40s. Obviously we'll only go if the weather is decent... does that sound doable or will I end up carrying both of them on piggyback?

invergowrie arab
If you are only going up the Mither Tap it's fine. It's up hill all the way though.

As bizarre as the BiB sounds, I dislike when there's a downhill part of a mountain near the beginning of the ascent because everytime I see one, I know I'll be cursing it on the way back!

It's the small sharp hills where you don't get much of a breather. Give me Braeriach over East Lomond from Falkland any day.
J_Stewart
Went up Conic Hill the other day along with what felt like half of Glasgow. A very weird experience tbh. We went up on Saturday on our way back home from Loch Lomond as well. It was absolutely fucking rammed. Went up at a decent pace though and weren’t held up overly often. Scenery was tremendous.Stopped at Glenclova for the afternoon walk too, which was beautiful but wildly overcast, so never really got much in the way of views.
paul-r-cfc
Heading up Conic Hill tomorrow. Fancy a walk and can't be arsed being out for hours. Weather looks decent as well.
Ziggy
I’m on Arran for a few days next week. I would like to do a few walks but I have zero hill walking experience. Any recommendations? I’m fit but stupid.
kilMARKnock
What a difference in colours in two weeks on Arran since my last visit, looked as if Goat Fell was on fire as we got off the ferry. Managed to drag the wee man up and make the ferry by the skin of our teeth. Some of the best 360 views I've had up there, stunning day.

Still a couple of bits you could go the wrong way so GPS or a map will help.
microdave
Glenashdale falls in Whiting Bay and Eas Mor in high Kildonan are nice, straightforward and easy walks. There's also a walk from somewhere in the southend back to Lamlash through forestry.

Ziggy
Thanks for the Arran advice. Has anyone visited the stone circles at Machrie Moor?
Aidan
Went up Mount Keen today and I've come to the conclusion that hill walking is stupid [emoji35]

D.A.F.C
Thanks for the Arran advice. Has anyone visited the stone circles at Machrie Moor?Yeah, pretty impressive.Picture doesn't do it justice, very atmospheric. The two glen walks are good. Did Rosa, I think you can walk the two and go over the hill in-between.Visited a waterfall as well, eas mor.
