UNITED CAPTURE GOALKEEPER

Blackpool keeper moves to Elland Road...

Leeds United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Paul Rachubka on a two-year-contract.

The 30-year-old, a former England youth international, joins from Blackpool where he made 127 appearances and won two promotions after being signed by Simon Grayson during his time as manager at Bloomfield Road.

Paul's career started at Manchester United and included spells at Charlton and Huddersfield. In total he has made almost over 250 career appearances.

Paul was Blackpool's Player of the Year in 2007/08 and played a key role in the club's rise to the Premier League. He made three appearances last term after missing the start of the campaign due to injury.

The United manager said: "This was a deal we had put in place last week and I'm delighted to conclude it today, and I look forward to working with him again.

"I worked with Paul at Blackpool, I have known him for a few years and know all about him. He's a good, experienced goalkeeper to bring in to challenge within the squad."

Looks like Lonergan is going to be coming in to compete with Rachubka. Longeran had a mare last season, but looked alright before that so hoping he will find that sort of form again.

We need to hurry up and do some business, it a joke how quiet we've been when both our starting central midfielders have left.

From the OS:-

Leeds United will kick off pre-season action at Falkirk on Wednesday (7.45pm) with two new signings making their debuts while three members of the first team squad will miss out due to injury.

New signings Michael Brown and Paul Rachubka will be handed their first run-outs in Leeds colours, but Davide Somma was a late withdrawal from the travelling party to Scotland, while Andy O'Brien and Luciano Becchio are also ruled out of the opening game.

"We've had a few niggles," said manager Simon Grayson, ahead of a game which is also available for LUTV subscribers to watch live via Pay-Per-View.

"Davide Somma felt his knee during training on Saturday and stayed behind in Leeds. He'll go for a scan to see what's wrong.

"Andy O'Brien has a minor side strain which you can get from running, and Luciano is still undergoing rehab from his hamstring injury last season. We'll assess them on a daily basis, but the likelihood is they won't play on Saturday at Motherwell either."

Both Paddy Kisnorbo and Ben Parker will be involved though as the duo look to start building up their match fitness after lengthy injuries.

"We have some young lads who have come up with us as well and my outline is to play two teams for 45 minutes because it is a training exercise," said the boss.

Leeds fans were good tonight.

Especially after the announcement that the pies were reduced to £1

After that was said, anyone moving out their seat was greeted with the classic " you fat b*****d" chant :P
