Bluenose5
A nice 2-0 victory over the Leafs today at the Bell centre. Keeping the Leafs to a shut-out is great as there are always usually plenty of goals in these games. Still sitting top of the Northeast but have Boston breathing down our necks, at least them along with Buffalo got beat today aswell.
RWB
Caps at Devils - Top v bottom. We already lost 7-2 in Washington. The score? 5-0 Devils and not even half way through! Maybe the PB for Pat Burns on the shirts tonight has focussed them too? Oh that really should have been 6 as I type. Young goalie actually saves one that looked a cert. So Devils finally looked like a team last game but lost but playing well tonight and getting the goals. Caps look hopeless tonight so far as Devils just go for it. Tedenby looks a cracking player. Skillful and fast. By the way, yet another young player called up by the coach for this game. Looks like he's giving everyone a chance this season. Hedberg in goal is playing well too! Not keen when he's playing the puck behind the net though.
TheTodd
Probably the best OG scored in any sport, ever.

kyle*
First meeting of the year tonight between the Ducks and the scum Kings. The_Belgian
It is genuinely worrying how shit we are. And us. The Leafs can't defend, can barely score (we've been shutout so often this season), and can't hold a lead either - the exact same as last season. 3-2 up against Tampa last night, the Bolts score with 9 seconds left. It's quite worrying that we're used to that happening. Then we lose in OT.
The_Belgian
And now the Leafs get tanked 5-0 off the f*cking Oilers...
Virtual Insanity
It is genuinely worrying how shit we are. Quite. It spoils a decent rivalry if your rivals are pish. Much like Thistle and Airdrie.
Bluenose5
Habs had a good 5-1 win against the Devils yesterday even though the Devils are struggling its always good to get a comprehensive scoreline, just hope we back that up back at the Bell Centre again the Sharks tomorrow. Also good to see Vancouver finally record a win against Chicago, especially a shut-out in Chicago too.
The_Belgian
Leafs win against Boston in a SO, much deserved win. Tim Thomas was sublime for the Bruins, 38 saves, with the Leafs making it 2-2 with 41 seconds to go. Thomas pulled off some stunning saves, but the one worth checking out is the big one in Overtime, what a f*cking save. Unfortunately his luck ran out when Phil Kessel skated directly towards him at speed in the SO, and while Thomas saved the initial shot, the speed force him back into the net with the puck between his pads

El McFuddin
Who's the Rangers fans on this thread supporting the Canadiens?! The Catholic French and Irish support Montreal, the Protestant English and Scots support Toronto. Sectarianism, not just a West of Scotland issue..........

The Catholic French and Irish support Montreal, the Protestant English and Scots support Toronto. Sectarianism, not just a West of Scotland issue.......... That would be me. I have lived in both Montreal and Toronto and have never heard such a thing about Catholics and Irish supporting Montreal and Protestants and Scots supporting Toronto, religion has nothing to do with sport over there. By the way I dont pick who I support in any sport based on religion if thats what your getting at?
The_Belgian
Leafs beaten by the Flyers 4-1 last night, good performance by the Flyers netminder, but the Leafs truly do suck. Until we get a #1 Center we will continue to get humped time and time again, which doesn't help our awful scoring record either.
Skeletar Spider
They don't see it that way over there at all, it is the frenchies vs the Canadians, never heard religion brought into it. The irish support the Bruins in that division anyway, never heard any irish links to the canadiens, always with the bruins. There's a decent book which features the rivalry between Scottish Canadians and French Canadians, 'No Great Mischief', by Alistair MacLeod, dunno if anyone's read it.

The_Belgian
The Leafs managed that thing called a "win" after beating the Habs 3-1. Good performance by the Leafs, glad we managed to get the win.
Bluenose5
Unfortunately the Habs have just been beaten by the Leafs at the ACC. The match wasn't a classic by any stretch. We just never turnt up in the 1st period and the Leafs to their credit took advantage of that to snatch 2 goals. Closest we ever came to scoring in that period was when we got a breakaway with Cammy missing a clear shot. At least he made ammends in the 2nd with a good goal. Was good to see Alex Auld get a game in goals which is quite rare. Leafs got their 3rd goal late on in the 3rd period with an empty net. To be fair they deserved their win and I wish we had of turnt up in the 1st period and we may have got something out of this. There's a decent book which features the rivalry between Scottish Canadians and French Canadians, 'No Great Mischief', by Alistair MacLeod, dunno if anyone's read it. Looks like a decent read, will have to look out for it. To be fair though there is no such rivalry between Scottish/Protestant Canadians and French Canadians these days, especially in hockey. The only rivalry/animosity that there is really is some of the francophone community would rather Quebec be seperated from Canada. Hopefully the Jets will take over the Pheonix franchise, should hear more about that at new year, there should be more Canadian teams. Hockey in the desert doesn't work, crowds at coyote and thrashers games are an embarrassment, panthers and stars have been shoddy too. There was talk last year that a team would be set up in Hamilton in Ontario if there was going to be a spot left by Phoenix if they folded there but nothing came of it. I would much rather see the old Quebec Nordiques enter the NHL again if this was to happen rather than a team in Hamilton or Winnipeg but I agree it should go to Canada though.
