To be fair you're going to need/use heating  for several months every year without fail.  You might need a fan on a few nights a year but how many nights in a row that drive you to buy a fan?

I have the ceiling fan on for 5 months. My house has cavity wall and loft insulation and is mostly like an oven

This type of thing amazes me greatly.

The very 1st time I had a sleepless night because it was too hot I went out and bought an oscillating fan and a ceiling fan.

If your house was freezing you'd put the heating on so why am I such a visionary for getting a fan?

It's not like it's hot 1 night s year

Why am I such a visionary

Sorry M8.

The point is I hear people all the time say what you did.

I say to them "I've got a ceiling fan"  and they look at me as if this is the greatest idea known to mankind.

Maybe people are just idiots

Do they look at you like that ? Or do they actually think ( shut up ye fanny ) while they still greet about being to hot?

I'm guessing they still wouldn't go out and buy the ceiling fan

Fair enough - but I doubt many people would feel the need to use a fan for 5 months in a year in the UK.

My bedroom one has been on every night since April and will continue to be till November, with a pedestal fan

Average UK temperature in October is 10 degrees, and that's London so maybe a degree or two less further north.  I wouldn't think a fan is needed as late as October.
