After having all my files and stuff transported from my old hard drive to my new one, all my videos (about 40GB of TV shows) are playing, but the quality's really bad and it's dead stop-start. So much so that it's pretty much impossible to watch. If you don't understand what you need to do, OF COURSE you need to tell your tutor. That's what they're there for. Is it anything that anyone here can help with, perhaps? Edit because that didn't really answer the question. Depending on how long you've had the assignment set for, you may get limited sympathy. I mean, if it was set a week ago and you've been sitting on it since, you ought to still get help and the chance to hand it in later, but you'll probably get a bollocking for not having said so earlier. I always did mine on time but on the odd occassion people in my tutorial group didn't and nothing much was said. If you explain you are struggling a bit, then they'll show some sympathy and at worst he/she will be a bit irritated.
