Second result when you google "sausage softie" Aberdeen Softie Recipe for Bakeries | British Bakels

Not a roll then, is it? Something unique to Aberdeen then, isn't it?

If it's not a roll, what is it?

Show us a picture of the roll you put your sausage in/on.

Or it could just be called what it is and either a sausage bap/sausage softie/sausage sandwich. This roll and sausage nonsense seems to be a Glasgow thing. Its universally accepted that a bacon roll/softie/bap is the universal term for bacon inside a bun/softie/roll/ whatever you call it, now, I can understand not calling it a sausage roll due to the potential for getting the pastry version. Or do Glaswegians use this 'roll and....' business for everything. Is it a roll and bacon, a roll and egg, a roll and chips????

You're a bun.

Your completely right apart from the fact it is a roll.

Arguing over this stuff is the worst patter on the Internet and sadly I don't think it'll ever go away.

Cat nip for the auld da types to get agitated about.

Gie yerself peace, or alternatively avoid a thread that is purely made for petty arguments.

It's actually a piece, or a sandwich for normal folk but yeah fair point.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the use of the word bap.

This is going to run and run...

They're called "baps" over here, too. Although baps and rolls, soft or otherwise, seem to be interchangeable.
