Was there this much of a carry on for the diamond jubilee in 2012?  I can't remember there being such a gammon hard on for it.

Hard not to feel like the gammon have been gammonised what with Brexit and the fact that they have one of their own in charge of running the country.

Aye, Chief 'I hate foreigners, recolonise Africa and Asia' at the helm doesn't help.

Have you returned from an extended absence from posting, or am I thinking of someone else?

Never been away but definitely don't post as much as I used to. Mixture of getting too old for this shit, not having much to say, trying to use phone/devices less etc.

The world is usually a much better place when people who don't have much to say resist the temptation to say something. Works for me.

From memory it wasn't even this bad in 2002. Maybe I have just blocked it out though.

Maybe folk are putting in extra effort as they feel this will be her last.

BBC breakfast has gone all out Jubilee. Impossible to watch.

Yip. Turned it on there, saw one of them rabbiting on about it. Turned off. King of Queens is on C4 anyway.

Imagine having to escape everything royal by changing over to a show called King of Queens.

It's the world gone mad, I tell ya.

I'm down near Bury just now and the amount of bunting etc is bewildering.
I don't understand the mentality tbh.

Bewildered by bunting in Bury? Blame boorish Britannia bawbaggery

I'm fairly sure this was a clue in the Times cryptic crossword.

Doesn't stop anybody else.

Moore's the pity.

Anyway, I'm going out on Sunday, the fact there might be Jubilee stuff on is inconsequential to me. Except I feel the need to make a statement. I was thinking an Oliver Cromwell t shirt or something. Any ideas?

When is the actual “celebration”?

Thankfully there’s barely a hint of it over here (which is still more coverage than the “glesca derby” gets, despite it being the”world’s greatest game”)

ETA: I want to know when so I can be as un-british as possible that day.

I looked it up. If I picked you up correctly you're in Illinois. During the Revolutionary War a fella called George Rogers Clark (also the name of a gay porn mash-up of Superman and George of the Jungle, but never mind about that just now) marched a force through to Vincennes, Indiana to claim it for the new Republic. I think he got all the way to Virginia, so you might have to take a career break or something if you want to recreate this.

What other un-British thing did you have in mind?
