A staycation is where you stay at home but have a week doing holiday things in your own area.

Going away in Scotland is still a holiday

Been doing some mildly risky stuff lately. Working up tall ladders, clambering about  steep and pointy rooftops, pugilism. Not a mark on me. Standing in a garden though and got hit by a huge set of flying ladders. One foot in the eye and the other in the stomach. Made a good clang.

Did staycation not originally mean staying at home and doing things local to you?
