Morton v ICT

Recommended Posts

No real excuses as we keep throwing games away and when you do that you deserve nothing.

With the Arbroath game and now this game we have dropped 5 points.

Ali Crawford - he looks like a guy who is going to hang the boots up at the end of the season. After that miss the confidence just drained from him. Not saying he cost us that game but he certainly played a part in it.

We're not taking our chances whilst ICT did so they probably deserved it in the end.

We keep going in the vain hope we can get to the play off's but that looks almost dead in the water now.

Of course they deserved it. We scored from a penalty that should never have been given and our only other decent chance was the Muirhead free kick off the bar. There's absolutely nothing from open play.

Persisting with Miller and Crawford has been our downfall and it's on Dougie.

The Arbroath match you absolutely chucked away but today? Not so sure you can throw it away when you were never ahead.

First half was pretty even but you missed a great chance, felt we edged the second half relatively comfortably.

We were well in command in the first half and the bulk of the play was in your half. We had a glorious chance to go ahead with the Crawford miss. If we score that I believe we would have went onto win the game.

Miller has not done enough to merit a contract for next season. And it just hasn't worked out for Crawford, a player with real ability but hasn't showed it at all when we needed it

Staying in contention isn't about playing brilliant football and blowing teams away, it's about taking the minimum on offer on a consistent basis.

If we scrapped to a point today and against Ayr and converted the opportunities against Arbroath, we'd be right in the mix, without any massive difference in performance level. As it is, we now need to roll the dice and get three points more often than not, starting next week down at Ayr.

Another thing the players should be getting drilled into their heads at this stage is that, for a club with our budget, league prize money is absolutely crucial... and will have a significant impact on next year's playing budget. So it's not just about getting a raffle ticket in a play-off, it's about finishing as high as we possibly can.

Imrie's key job at the moment is to make sure the season doesn't just fizzle out to a 6th or 7th place finish. That needs to start with a back to basics 4-3-3, with Quitongo on the right and McGrattan or Muirhead on the left (A. Crawford can have a wee sit on the bench to reflect on how a player with his ability should be making a far bigger contribution at this level; Miller can go now with our best wishes...).

One great chance aside you didn’t create much else of note, is that really well in command? You could argue Morton edged it slightly first half as could The Caley in the second half but in no way did you “throw it away”

Well we didn't score from a simple tap in that would have put us ahead when we didn't look like conceding . That in my world is throwing it a way.

fair enough, personally I think you’d typically need to be in the lead at some point to throw it away.

We'll just wait for the next three points that you cough up at Cappielow in the final round of fixtures, shortly before your club slides into the financial abyss.

A tad late to the thread with this, but why not-

Found this photo from the 06/04/2010 game which was a Tuesday night 19:30 kick off and ended up a 2-0 win for Inverness. I recall throughout most of the match Colin Stewart was being reminded by us that his girlfriend is a better football than he is. 😆 Probably true.

We scored early on and this looks like a very unmarked Richie Foran nearest about to put us 1-0 up? Who ever lobbed that cross caused absolute carnage at the far post, how many defenders and the goalie needed? 😆 culprit Jonny Hayes?

Cappielow is a brilliant place to watch football, the oncoming evening seems to bring out a different atmosphere and character under the lights.

After a poor first half the second half showing was much better and we got a deserved win. Morton were really poor for most of the game apart from when they got a lift after their equaliser. Criminal miss from Crawford in the first half and Ridgers had to look alive to deny a well struck shot but apart from that it was pretty dull.

Wonderful strike from Allardice to open the scoring from about 30 yards with a sumptuous volley. Looked like an utterly bizarre penalty decision to allow Morton to steal their way back into it and they almost went 2 - 1 up when Muirhead lashed a free kick from miles out off the bar with Ridgers well beaten. Fortunately Carson bundled his way through the home defence right at the end to sclaff a shot beyond the despairing Schawke to give us a big three points.

Standouts for us were Allardice, Carson and Shaw.

That might technically be the first ICT game to be streamed live online. Not by a proper channel or club stream but by some random old webcam in the ground that Morton had forgotten to switch off.

I remember watching this. It was only showing one half of the pitch on about 10 pixels if I remember correctly

Spot on really disappointed in Ali Crawford, looks the part but has delivered zilch when it mattered.

Miller just proved today that he can't even be an impact player.

Yes, Dougie should reset his valuation of the players brought in.

On the game, enjoyed it but not the outcome. You have to score when having the upper hand. Fair play to ICT they came to win unlike some of the teams who have visited this season. As for our limited shots on goal this was hampered by some very good defending.

Sadly Dodds is singlehandedly promoting ICT as our to be hated team of choice, what a bellend.

Playoffs now a 10% chance I would say and dependant on wins at Ayr and Dundee. Well you can only dream , make it happen Dougie.

Bear in mind that Imrie spent the majority of his playing career with HA in the relegation end of the Premier fighting for survival.
