Kilmarnock 0 v St. Johnstone. The meh derby.

Recommended Posts

I'll add. Saints will turn up and aim to "keep it tight", "take no risks early on" etc which will result in negativity throughout the team. Davidson 100% sees this as a must not lose because... That's how he thinks.

Killie will drop off when we've got the ball resulting in Saints rolling it out from the goalkeeper to the likes of Gordon and Mitchell who'll pass it between themselves a couple of times before more often than not punting the ball 60 yards towards Stevie May which will result in gifting possession to Killie.

Also, can't wait.

Depends which Saints turns up. If the usual Saints turn up. Killie win this easily.

Im not sure it really matters how our opponents play tbh, theyre doing it regardless.

Keeper to Considine, Considine to Montgomery was getting attempted endlessly in one of our last home games despite the fact it was cottoned onto about 10 minutes in and was leading us into traps constantly.

The alternative is the pass to Gordon, who moves forward 5 yards, then does his trademark hop - skip - hoof diagonal over everyones heads. Not sure whats preferable tbh.

CD's selections and tactics from our last few away games against teams down the bottom/in bad form suggest we will sit in and basically take no part at all in the game until we are at least a goal down.

Lost this and we are fully back in crisis mode IMO.

The SPFL Instagram page has a video of a few goals involving ‘mazy’ runs today. Brought to mind this cracker from O’Halloran in the last minute on opening day 2017 which they missed.

So many exciting moments for both teams in 2 and a half minutes of highlights. 3 brilliant goals. And Murray Davidson hitting the bar from 50 yards with a tackle.  Glorious sunshine, and we went 3 wins 2 draws in our opening 5 games.

Says a lot about Saints currently that I’d be reasonably happy with a draw

It says everything about Saints that i'm sad someone bothered starting this thread on the Thursday before the game.

Remember not even being raging that Boyd had scored from so far out, like you usually try and blame the keeper or something but my memory is just sitting back acknowledging the fact it was an absolute screamer.

The winning goal was peak away day football. The growing tension as MOH refuses to shoot at multiple openings before finally slotting it in. Shame fans were so far up the stand really.

Would think that must be up there as the best goal of Boyd’s career.

Has to be, probably unfair and just a now biased memory of him, but it's likely one of the few he actually scored from outside the box.

Our last away game, a 3-0 loss to Hearts where we chucked it after an hour + had the manager both freeze then just launch every attacker on the park for 15 mins, was a "great performance" and "one of our best" according to our manager, so looking forward to seeing what a worse performance results in.

Really don’t like Clark and Considine being out. It either means Brown shoehorned in somewhere silly in a back three or a half fit McGowan playing at the back. If he’s not there McGowan is likely in the middle covering Phillips’ absence. Rudden probably needs to be the starter with Clark out but I have a suspicion it’ll be the ineffectual McLennan again. Concerning.

I think McGowan is definitely in, as you say. Hes "trusted", which tbf is fair enough i guess.

Rest of the team feels obvious with Brown at LCB.

Just up front really. Can see him doing a variety of things and convinced Carey is getting wedged in somewhere to make a point. Rudden isnt one i hugely rate but zero doubt hes offered more than Bair and we need an actual striker/poacher up front beside May.

Got the train from the Ferry. Just left Invergowrie and am paralysed by fear. Absolutely shitting it that the wee man's Killie strip will get noticed and we'll both get battered by the violent hordes awaiting the arrival of this train in Perth. Will probably end up pulling the emergency 🚨 cord and legging it back across the fields to Dundee before we get there. Pray for us. Can only hope they don't chase us and are more interested in the forthcoming running street battles around Kilmarnock railway station.

See no-one even has the heart for this anymore. Though the games were shite, the thread was a bit of a laugh.

Now the meh derby has won, and the apathy is something something else can’t be arsed
