I actually agree with you.  There’s nothing sincere about him.

I think his approval ratings have been decent compared to the rest though?  That’s all I’m going by really.

I thought I'd have a look for his approval ratings. First thing that came up was a Yougov site that has him as the 72nd Most Popular Conservative politician 🤔😂. Apologies for a poor screenshot!

Obviously I don’t have the independence movement’s best interests at heart, but picking the least popular with the public of the two seems like a mental thing to do.

Although in saying that, the focus should really be on that large ex-Labour contingent who switched post-2014.

I can’t see Yousaf keeping hold of that huge block though.

He is a polished speaker, but will be tied up in knots at FMQs and in debates IMO.  The SNP have been blessed with the think-on-yer-feet presentation skills of Salmond then Sturgeon, but that’s about to change.

Things that are now going to go against the SNP:

- Labour riding high in the polls.  Chance of them getting in to Westminster.

- No real chance of independence any time soon.  No carrot to dangle.

- No leader with broad appeal and the presentation skills of Sturgeon.

-Sarwar being genuinely likeable to the public.  Not obnoxious like Yousaf.

- The corruption regarding membership figures, finances etc.

Make no mistake about it, Labour are back.

If the unionist parties want to bring voters over from the SNP they're going to need to start thinking harder about the language and tone they use when they talk about independence and people who support it. They can't plausibly continue suggesting people are brainless fools for thinking independence is important but then turn around and ask those people to please vote Labour/Tory.

The most important question to ask about our glorious leader.

What team does he support?

Obviously Nicola hated football and football supporters but Humza has a clean slate on this one. Hope he does blot it by being a Tim or (less likely) a ***.

Buses in Edinburgh are probably the cheapest and best run in the UK.

My son achieved 5 X A highers from a state school.

But I am lucky where I live, as are you in south bucks - neither area represent the entire country and we both know that there are parts of Scotland and England where these services are poor.

Yup.  Exactly this - which was my entire point.  I was replying to @Crùbagwho said, "all these sectors are shitter in other parts of the UK." when they patently aren't.

One simply can not draw a line across Britain and say "above the line is better than below the line so we need an international border to keep the two apart".

After 300+ years of being one nation - where social attitudes surveys see almost no difference between north and south and when we have many hundreds of thousands of Scots living in England and VV - you belong to a political movement that wants to manufacture differences to the extent of creating a new nation.  The Scotland, even.

It's absolute nonsense and scandalous that a man of your wit and awareness has bought this snake oil.

You can, with absolute ease, because the line already exists. It's called the border, y'know, that thing they're referencing when people describe something as being "North (Scotland) or South (England) of the Border"?

The border between Scotland and England exists, yet people are able to move freely between the two, not because they're the same country, but because of the terms of a political union, much like with the Schengen agreement in mainland Europe whereby they also have freedom of movement, yet are very much separate countries, which are separated by a variety of lines across Europe, also known as borders. They also have different standards of living, even though they're part of the same island and political union, just as there is between England and ourselves. Please let me know if you require any further clarification on the matter.

Aye ok I was egging the custard a bit.  Let me  rephrase:

"Absolute NatWits like you have to manufacture grievance to maximise the barely-existent differences north and south of the border"

Scotland hasn't voted Tory since 1955.

Nonsense.  Schengen isn't a political union.

Does the UK have to manufacture grievances to maximise the differences north and south of the border it operates in Ireland?

Actually, the Schengen Agreement (note: an agreement) is captured within the legal framework of the European Union, a political union. Again, happy to provide further clarification if required.

Barely existent differences?

We have levels of poverty in parts of this country where you can draw a straight line to policies enacted by Margaret Thatcher in her "teaching you lot a lesson" years.

Its nigh on impossible right now to have the economic levers - as part of a UK which largely votes for, and buys into the notion that the Conservative ethos is "good" and socialism (i.e. caring for others) is some "woke snowflake pish" - to change that.

Sarwar benefits from the utter dregs that came before him; parroting the party line is probably for the best as previous SLab leaders haven’t done so well when they’ve tried to explain thoughts of their own. ‘Not genetically programmed to make decisions’ and such.

Schengen isn't a political union and there are no parallels between it and the treaty - recognisable under international law - that made Scotland and England one kingdom.

This is bleeding heart pish.  Thanks to Mr Barnett Scotland has about £4,000 per taxpayer per annum (pre covid numbers but still valid) to make things better.  That you elect a largely autonomous administration that doesn't exploit its freedom to make improvements but, rather, turns everything to shite is on every ScotchNat voting for these chancers.

Being FM of Scotland is the easiest job in world politics.  All you have to do is put all of your energy into the big devolved areas of education, transport, health and local government and use the Barnett bonus to make changes and everyone will benefit.  Scotland has more than enough 'levers' to make a massive difference in people's lives.

Instead, you squeal like stuck pigs and elect the serial failure that is Humza as FM who has the nonentity - yet friend of Sturgeon - that is Shona Robison as his deputy.

Sturgeon is an Ayr fan. I'm fully expecting to see her on the terraces at Somerset Park.
