Would love to see Celtic and Rangers draw each other but they usually keep that for a Hampden tie, no doubt the bigot twins will get the easiest draw of the round coincidentally.

Would love Inverness away, been a while since an away day in Inverness.

No doubt 🤣

Your conspiracy theories may have just bit you on the arse here.

I'm just glad we didn't get the potential banana skin that is Darvel.

Although Celtic is probably the least exciting team we could've drawn

I welcome any opportunity to beat Hearts so looking forward to it.

Last few games at Tynecastle have all been competitive so imagine this one be the same

Could one of our resident nerds dish out the stats on how often the Old Firm draw each other before the semi-finals, compared to Hearts and Hibs, or even the Dundee clubs?

Over the past 15 years or so, the number of times there has been an Edinburgh derby in the early stages of the cup is ridiculous.

Looking at the last 15 years, there have been 3 Old Firm matches before the quarters, compared to 6 Edinburgh derbies and one Dundee derby. I wouldn't say the Old Firm number is at all suspicious, given you've got a 1 in 31 chance of meeting in Round 4, then the odds for the subsequent rounds are slightly dependent on the team actually getting through, but work out as 1 in 15 for Round 5 and 1 in 7 for the quarters if both get there.

So 3 meetings out of 15 is pretty close to what you'd expect if both teams make it that far every year. It hasn't quite been every year either - Celtic lost to Aberdeen in R5 in 2013/14, and Rangers lost to Dundee United in R5 in 2011/12 and 2012/13, then Raith in R5 in 2014/15.

It's the Edinburgh derby numbers that are out of kilter, and I genuinely believe it might be because they are close to each other alphabetically (and therefore have nearby numbers) and the balls might not always get properly mixed in the earlier rounds.

Old Firm (3)

2021/22 - Round 4
2015/16 - Quarter Final
2010/11 - Round 5

Edinburgh Derby (6)

2022/23 - Round 4
2017/18 - Round 4
2016/17 - Round 5
2015/16 - Round 5
2012/13 - Round 4
2008/09 - Round 4

Dundee Derby (1)

2012/13 - Quarter Final

Pretty sure that the Hearts game will not be played on the 12th as Scotland are playing Ireland at Murray field that day.

Monday night it will be!

Could surely be the Saturday in that case?

That would be sensible, so no chance of that happening.

With Celtic v Hearts on 8/3, if Sunday is out, the Monday slot is logical.

Rangers v Raith will be a Sunday match because of a game on 8/3 for Rangers.

The decision will be ICT v Killie or Falkirk/Darvel v Ayr for Friday night, probably the latter.

Maybe, but playing Wednesday/Saturday isn't exactly out the question.
