Hamilton Academical v Raith Rovers: THE FINAL

Hard to be too bothered by that, to be honest. Play that second half 100 times and we score by hook or by crook in about 95 of them. You've just got to congratulate Accies.

There are things we could've done differently, of course. I'd have had Ngwenya on for Dick the second the red card came out, for one, but ultimately that wasn't an embarrassment or anything. The Rovers created enough chances to win two games but bad luck and astonishing goalkeeping kept them out. These things happen. You take it on the chin and you move on.

Enjoy it, Accies.

We made a huge mistake taking Isma off and not altering the approach. I know Hamilton had a backs to the wall job on their hands after the red card, but we took off our only forward with physical presence and continued playing as if he was still there. You will always struggle a bit to break down resistance in these circumstances so at least keep a player capable in the air in there. A very, very poor call that one. Nevertheless, Hamilton played the game brilliantly after suffering a huge setback.

That red card was an absolute joke. I know we have our own history with Colin Steven, but he really is beyond help. Should be nowhere near refereeing at this level.

Well played Accies.

Ultimately,  the manager got that wrong tbh.  Taking Isma off was the wrong call, Vaughan was the obvious option.  After not scoring in that 5 minute period after the red card - we had absolutely zero physical threat and ended up not really making the numerical advantage tell too much - after a frantic 10 minute period - and  ended up with about 6 attacking players on the pitch all trying to do the same thing.

Some fantastic goalkeeping and defending, and there was chances, but can't help but feel that wasn't the right way to play against 10 men.  The set pieces especially were dreadful.

Think that’s a bit harsh on Murray. Isma was rank rotten when he was on and holding his back for about ten minutes before he went off. If he’d been left on, the likelihood is he’d have kept doing nothing.

Isma was poor, but he was left isolated tbh and having to deal with punts forward. Which as we've seen, isn't his game.

We had 40 minutes with a huge amount of set pieces, with no centre forward and no physical presence, yet floated balls into the box that were a dream to defend.

Because we offered nothing, absolutely nothing. Maybe that was the tactic.

It's one game.  It's probably better for you if you don't support the Rovers to be honest, and I use the term support loosely.

Interesting you reference the refereeing.  The outcry over VAR is drowning out the problems that exist in the three lower divisions.

But hey, at least Accies prevailed. We were awful.
