Greenock Morton vs Ayr United

Recommended Posts

The diamond midfield is never going to work with this squad. We got away with it second half on Saturday despite the space it allowed in midfield because Queen's Park lost their heads after we scored on the counter attack, but 3-1 utterly flattered us there as Ayr targeted that space and waltzed through it at will.

If we'd started with it and got gubbed, you could make that argument.

Bizarre to be trying to make it when we were already 3-1 down when we went to it...

We went to it at 1-0.

Still don’t get why Scottish clubs aren’t streaming their games.  I had not the slightest intention of travelling up to Greenock tonight, but would have paid for a proper stream instead of enduring that VIPleague pish.

With Miller wide on the left? That's not a diamond, that's suicide.

We only went to the formation that finished on Saturday in the 63rd minute.

Over the last two games, we've lined up like that for approx. 75 minutes: aggregate score 2-0.

We've played approx. 105 minutes with Muirhead, Oakley, Miller, and A. Crawford all on the pitch (and Blues deepest in midfield): aggregate score 1-5.

It really isn't difficult.

The manager of the month curse strikes again i see

There was a substitution that gave me the shivers, Calvin Miller for Grant Gillespie.

Imrie deserves manager of the year for having any team functioning at all with those two in it.

We deserved absolutely nothing from that game. Defence was poor for the 3 goals and we insisted on playing long balls all night to no one. Wouldn't give a single player pass marks. Ayr deserved their win. Mcginty and Musonda solid at the back and Dipo up front looking dangerous all night.  Couldn't grudge mcginty his girfuy moments as he was taking pelters the whole game. Actually thought some nugget in the cowshed was going to have a heart attack seeing how worked up he got abusing him in the warm up.

Not good enough at all tonight.  Dougie and the team have been taking the plaudits all season and tonight deserve criticism on and off the pitch.
