Hearts v Livi

Yeah it certainly is for you anyway, like i said, we created enough to win the game, and should have done with Kelly's pen. Good 2nd half for us after we contained Hearts in the 1st half, but you don't seem able to see the difference.

A case in point
You've lamented Kelly missing a penalty as opposed to Craig Gordon saving one

We all do it

Looking at the tacke on Devlin on bbc alba, dunno why that wasn't at least a yellow and a foul to us, might've even been a red card, wiped Devlin out and looked like he got studs up his ankle too. VAR did't think it merited the ref going for a look though, will be interesting what the sportscene punters think of it.

You can't give yellow cards for potential serious foul play reviews. It's a red or nothing, if the referee has missed it to begin with.

Didn't even get discussed in the Sportscene studio after, they just pontificated on 2 potential Hearts penalties of which neither was one, imo. The valid claim for handball, they didn't even show. Amateur hour.

Martindale singled out Konovalov for praise in his after-match interview. I hope a way can be found to secure Konovalov longer term as back-up to George because he seems a very solid and reliable keeper.

Wonder how we would have got on against Celtic if he'd played. Might have helped not losing 2 poor goals within 10 minutes of the start of each half.

Might've done a bit better with their goal, looks too low going for it, but Obileye should've sent it into the stands with his clearance.

Think you're being very harsh, that was lasered into the top of the net.

The double save towards the end was ridiculously good.

Ginnelly had been having a nightmare all afternoon

Something had to go right for him eventually

That's an issue with Sportscene/Sportsound, a manager comes out and says something that is wrong but the pundits don't seem to have the knowledge or don't want to correct what was said.

Neilson said at the end of the lengthy VAR check it wasn't even given as a foul (well yes, that's up to the referee not VAR as it was a red card check).

Martindale said there was a handball that the referee wasn't asked to look at before the goal (there may have been contact with the arm but if the ref/VAR didn't think it was a handball offence then there's no reason to rule out the goal)

Come on, Gordon got it with his foot and kept it out, yeah well played him, but Kelly should've scored it, if your hitting it down the centre keep it up  far enough so the keeper can't save with his legs/feet.

On the game, Hearts better team first half and your assessment is valid, all we threatened with came from set plays. 2nd half though Livi were the better team and created plenty chances, no danger is that 2nd half performance anything like our first half, we upped our game. Gordon also made several good saves in that 2nd half to keep you in the game.

Yeah the double save was excellent, as was Holt's block with his back, was really happy with Ivan's performance, think he's better than Shamal at clearing balls into our box too, his punches go right out to the side of the pitch. Kicks really long too, would've loved for Bruce to have been on, maybe getting onto those long kicks and getting at their goal.

Interested to hear why you think they weren't penalties?

Livvy should have won that with the clear chances they had to kill it, though overall a draw was deserved for us.

A good game yesterday overall. Hearts controlled the first half, with most of our chances coming from set plays.

Second half we had a bit more influence, with Omeonga essentially manmarking Snodgrass out of the game. A great assist from Shinnie, and goal from Kelly. Between the penalty and Pittman chance we should have been out of sight, however killing teams off has been a problem this year. Obileye, Konovalov, Stephen Kelly, Shinnie and Montano were good, but it though Nouble and Sean Kelly fell out the game.

Ginnelly’s goal was a cracker however Hearts seem like a team that plays with the hand break on. That midfield 3 with a back 3 puts a lot of pressure on individuals to create. Seeing Hearts fans leave after the penalty award was surreal as well.

The referee was poor, he seemed to have no confidence in his own judgements whatsoever. The Cochrane tackle was an incredible decision, given it went to VAR

Overall not a bad point, it keeps us in good form before the breaks. We probably should have won yesterday and drawn Tuesday

For Konovalov's, the ball was already cleared by the defender when he went into Devlin. It wasn't Zlamal on Halkett in the 5-0 game.

The one on Ginnelly looked like a 50/50 with both players pulling at each other and the Hearts commentators agreed. Camera wasn't great on this one though.

The handball on Shinnie was surprisingly not given.

The fact the ball was already cleared didn't stop the keeper battering into Devlin off the ball, to me that should be a penalty.  Keepers get away with a huge amount though. The Ginnelly one i can see your point though Devlin is definitely the main offender.

Conversely i didn't think the handball was a penalty

A draw was probably fair overall, could have gone either way. Ultimately, a good point for Hearts in the circumstances, much like Killie away.

Livi do what they do, but I was much more impressed with Motherwell last week than with Livi this week. Can't really work out what I expect from Livi in terms of a final league position.

Still, overall a decent first part of the season's work. Been saying all along I'd take being within six points of third, and here we are four points away. Feeling good about the rest of the season.

The team will be glad of the break. Hugely important we come back and win the two home games we've got after the break. If we do, we may well be third and able to put the foot down and move on.

No way was a draw the fair result 😂

Absolutely pumped yous 2nd half, wasted a pen and should’ve had another in the build up to your goal which should never have stood (im counting 3 hearts fouls in the build up). The only time our keeper was tested he kept yous out. VAR an absolute joke up here - 5 games in and we’ve been done in at least 3 of them.

If we keep that level of performance up we’ll top 3/4 along with Aberdeen and the auld scum.

Why do all the Livi fans on this site come across as if they're 11 years old?

😀

Can't deny Livi were good second half and created some decent chances - bit mental, though, that Hearts could, and really should, have had three after we went down to ten men, given we'd done pretty much nowt for the preceding hour.

Tell you what though, I'm coming to love listening to Martindale speak about football - sensible guy, talks tons of sense, fair in his summaries of matches, and clearly can't be arsed with bullshit of any sort.
