Proposed tier 5 Central League

What this all about then? Not sure if this means more promotion places to league 2 and don't know where the colts would fit it. Has anyone seen the proposal?

If you read the article or were around for the SJFA AGM in the summer you would know it's the SJFA's pet project. The tweet is very misleading when you consider the headline.

It's deader than a dodo. Just like the Junior Superduperleage. It's just been put forward as a proposal where it will curl up and die in the PWG.

Two chances of this happening, and one of them is no chance.

its was raised last Tuesday at the npg by the sjfa.the chair of the meeting immediately told them it would need to go to the pyramid working group heard both sos.and eos vetoed it straight away.am still trying to work out how the sjfa are allowed at these meetings when its for leagues which they are not..

Looks like the annual attempt by the SJFA to remain relevant, doubt they'll be happy with tweet as presumably there's a missing "J" which people won't realise unless they bother to read the article.

Gives basically no details on anything, like the geographic extent of this central league or how promotion to the SPFL would work, and fails to mention that tier 6 clubs can already enter the Junior Cup if they wish.

NPG being the non-professional game board. Which means the Lowland and Highland weren't there and it's fair to say how they'd likely vote.

Notice the Junior wizards have came up with a name for the league which wasn't mentioned in the summer.

So is "Central" based on a geographical area?

Is this a format to bring back the Tayside clubs?

Update after the SJFA AGM

Successful Scottish Junior Football Association AGM today.

Biggest thing to go through was the opening of the Scottish Junior Cup to any team tier 5 and below who wish to enter.

It’s about small steps and I don’t expect a major influx from teams straight away but my plan includes an up to £80,000 prize pot with payouts to last 16 possibly 32.

There is no denying that the association has struggled to move forward but hopefully this is the first step moving on.

We’ve said it continuously that we are more than willing to work with other associations at our level if they are.

Another that was in my report to our members is the proposal put forward to the pyramid working group of the SFA, we have proposed a new set up at tier 5 sitting alongside the highland league and lowland league.

We feel the timing is right for such a move and again would be happy working with the others roundabout us.

We aim to fill a 16 team league with licensed clubs from the midlands league, the West of Scotland Football League and the East of Scotland league.

At the top end of it all depends on SPFL clubs changing there format, at the bottom end if the three leagues are in the winners if licensed automatically go up and the bottom three down, the fourth bottom of central league will play in a playoff with all three leagues second placed teams if licensed for the fourth promotion/relegation place.

A proper way for promotion and relegation.

Congratulations also go to Norman McKay, Bobby McNamara, Gordon Ronney and Felix McKenna on gaining life membership of the association, your service to the Scottish Junior FA is greatly appreciated.

Felix McKenna also received an honorary Vice President certificate.

If the SJFA can sit on the NPG and put forward stupid proposals to the PWG. Might as well get the Lowland Tier 6 leagues together and put forward a proposal to how they would like to see the LL Pyramid Playoff change.

from the talking shop which the pwg is(no power to do anything) the 4 groups who make up the pyramid ll.hl.spfl.sfa it only needs one of them to say no going by the rules.dont think the sfa are looking for more none league clubs getting the chance to vote.the sjfa have done more damage to all the ex-junior clubs than anything else. they lied to and restricted the clubs for years.

Tbf, the Scottish League has been a closed shop for the best part of it's entire history with the only way to join was by invitation.

Ferranti Thistle being one of the more laughable invites in the 1970s.

CUP COMPETITION RULES 2. The competition for the Cup shall be annual, and shall be open to all member clubs of the Association and all tier 6 teams and below on payment of entry fee, subject to the approval of the Committee.

Looks like the SJFA haven't bothered to update their rules if indeed the cup was opened to tier 5 and below at the AGM.

There was a place up for grabs right enough, but they weren't invited, they were voted in. Obvious self interest by the voting clubs, faced with Highland clubs and more, but democratic nonetheless.

Has anyone told him the Pyramid Working Group hasn’t actually met. It was a false promise by Maxwell which he instantly forgot about as soon as the 8 Clubs said yes to Colts.

League 2 should be expanded to 18 teams with 3 tier 5 leagues, LL East, LL West and Highland feeding into it.

All with automatic promotion from each plus a playoff between the 2nd places and 15th in League Two.

Easy! Haha

A cunning plan would be all players in LL self define as female under the Gender Recognition Act and SFA will then chuck £100k a year at the Clubs.

They'll run into the exact same problem they had getting the east and west regions in at tier 6 as LL feeders. Regardless of whether the SFA is in favour, the LL can veto this because they need to sign off on Club 42 playoff rule changes, just like the EoS were able to with the playoff into the LL despite the SFA board wanting the SJFA in as is. If the proposal helps put pressure on the LL to open up pro/rel more then maybe it isn't a complete waste of time however.
