Motherwell v Aberdeen 22/10/22

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

FAO Top Reds attending this match, let's just try to get this one going pre-match to give the reds a lift!

Thank you in advance to the 'Well tannoy for playing the Nirvana original 3 mins before the teams emerge.

(Right side of away end (RSOAE)) Load up the duck, bring Clarkson

(Left side of away end (LSOAE)) It's fun to win and to pretend

(RSOAE) That we're not bored, we're self-assured

(LSOAE) Has Big Cormack really matured?

(RSOAE) Quacko, Quacko, Quacko, hello

(LSOAE) Quacko, Quacko, Quacko, hello

(RSOAE) Cormack, Cormack, Cormack, Quacko

(LSOAE) Quacko, Quacko, Quacko

(Both sides of away end) With the duck on, we're more dangerous

We're the top reds, entertain us

Cormack's not stupid, he's courageous

We're the top reds, entertain us

(Well tannoy then plays Money for Nothing by Dire Straits (skipping the 2 minute intro) as the teams emerge and all four stands of Fir Park rock out)

Have I entered an alternate universe?

Great tribute to a proud Aberdonian.

Usually an easy 3 points whether or not Big Joe is in goals but every dog has his day and perhaps this is Aberdeen’s day to shine, we have had a poor run.  It will all depend on KVV deciding if he is up for it.

Nothing worse than giggling away at a forum post and not having the nerve to explain to your wife why.

We are surely due a win against Motherwell at some point again in history.

Kevin van Veen to hopefully play like Rodney 'Dave' Sneijder rather than Marco van Basten 88 when he faces AFC.

Both teams playing their third match in six days, so unlikely to be pretty.  A pretty match would be maybe suit us - physical slugfest will not - and we really do struggle to defend set pieces.

Motherwell destroyed us at Pittodrie earlier in the season, with some very un-Motherwell (of previous seasons) fast. precise counter-attacking fitba. That has been a bit of an anomaly from our other home performances.  It's away from home that we have been lamentable.

Prediction after all that:   1-1

Geez an away win ffs.

My thoughts are you are likely to get your wish. As bad as your away from has been our home form has not been that much better.

There seems to be a malaise threatening to set in at Fir Park. Another defeat here and poorish performance and the natives will become more restless.

This after a bright start to the league season and two good performances v United and Hearts at home that yielded all of one point.

Almost as if the Motherwell players have said / thought Christ we cannot win games when we play very good football. So why bother. Let’s lose games by being poor. Probably easier to be fair.

There is the proviso that our last set of games has been Celtic x 2, Rangers, Hibs away and Hearts at home.

So this is a big game.  Aberdeen with their vastly superior resources should in theory win, but our record as illustrated on this thread is quite decent v the Dandies.

We must not lose I feel if we are to try and regain momentum…..

I remember saying before the home fixture vs Motherwell that their fans dread and fear meant we were destined to lose and turned out so. I am hopeful of the reverse this time around. Our away form needs to improve at some point, confidence must be on the rise and the Tannadice car crash still needs addressed. Away win, 1-3 with Miovski getting himself in amongst it again.

Aberdeen win.

We're just in a really weird place at the moment. Said it plenty but we're a massive work-in-progress and the choice to run with a smaller squad is coming back to bite us. Signing injury prone players who then end up injured (to the surprise of absolutely no one) hasn't helped either.

For all folk were getting bent out of shape over Alexander's tombola we seem to be having to just play the same XI entirely out of necessity just now and coming off the back of having games against both Rangers and Celtic means it's hard to see us having the energy for this one if we're basically chucking out the same starting XI.

I'd take a draw. Our record in recent years against Motherwell has been absolutely appalling.

We tend to have the majority of play but produce next to nothing with it. We need to take our chances.

Concerned by the lack of height in our team against a side like Motherwell. Squeaky-bum-time when defending set pieces and corners.

Motherwell and Dundee Utd have both become bogey teams for us.

OH! and please don't play Richardson. Definitely not the game for him. He alone gives me the fear.

Massive game that I expect to be quite physical. We're in a bit of a slump and if we're to come out of it before the World Cup starts in a few weeks then a win is needed here. I see Aberdeen fans saying given their away form and the recent history between the 2 sides suggest a home win but I just can't see it. We're really struggling with injuries and are likely having to play the same players for the 3rd time in 6 days so I reckon it's got 1-1 all over it, with us inevitably conceding first and only scoring after getting a penalty after missing a couple of sitters.
