topcat(The most tip top)
The passing whimsies: Belle and Sebastian may have been the commercial success of the late 1990s Glasgow's indie scene but the achingly cool Whimsies were the connoisseur's choice figuratively and literally. their first gig was supporting Duncan Murray and the Connoisseurs in the back room of the Halt on Woodlands road in 1994 in front of 12 people (although hundreds of people will claim to have been there). Guitarist and Mellotron player Mhari Carnegie was the creative driver and now works for Damien Hirst while her brother and drummer Julian became an environmental activist was last heard of supergluing himself to a road in 2018. Die grüne punkte: 1970s Electronica hard rock hybrid from Cologne Germany massively ahead of their time they supported both Deep Purple and Kraftwerk on tours of Germany. Both audiences hated them. Rudi and MIchael Schenker's cousin Gunther briefly played synth for them. Rammstein wouldn't be the band they are today were it not for the Grune Punkte. Fire Tartan: Fire Tartan had the look, the riffs and above all the attitude to make it in the crayzee world of the '80s Los Angeles glam metal scene but unfortunately they were from Hamilton it was 1992 and Nirvana had happened. According to his autobiography Frankie Poullain, later of the Darkness auditioned for them but got turned down because he "didn't look Rawk enough". They later tried to reinvent themselves as a grunge outfit called "Seaweed" but one suspects they never really believed in that and certainly nobody else did Michael Jenkin's world of Shit: At the height of 70's punk bands spat that at their audience, audiences spat at the band but legendary showmen MJWOS raised the ante by hurling excrement at the audience who would reply in kind. Their fans "The shitheads" were loyal but never numerous and their career was further hampered by the fact that no venue would ever book them a second time. Jenkins died from septicemia in Tokyo in 1982. Rat Scabies, drummer of the damned, described them as a "band everyone wanted to see but nobody wanted to smell", Glen Matlock of the Pistols called them "Clarty C***s" Death Row Crew: Not to be confused with "Death Row Records" this rap collective based in Huntsville Prison Texas were about as hardcore as gangsta rap ever got. Listen to "Oops I did it again (Shot a mother ***er)" and you'll never hear the Britney Spears original in the same way again. Obviously they couldn't tour and struggled to maintain a stable line up. When "Copkiller Floyd" was executed and replaced with "Child Rapist Geoffrey" it signalled the beginning of the end of the groups brief and limited popularity Edited October 17, 2022 by topcat(The most tip top)

When "Copkiller Floyd" was executed and replaced with "Child Rapist Geoffrey" it signalled the beginning of the end of the groups brief and limited popularity Enjoyed reading through that, it's a hobby of mine to listen to obscure music, searching for something that bit different, even inspirational. But you very rarely get that, more likely the unheard of band you've decided to listen to were a mysterious secret for obvious reasons. I've tried many bands and artists from Alien Brains to Zan Hoffman......... mostly shite. Do The Residents count as obscure? Here's an interesting site for you: http://dieordiy2.blogspot.com/ There's a huge collection of stuff on there, with regular additions made very often. Fill your boots...............or probably don't!
