Cheers, makes sense.  Pretty sure that's why we hooked Cochrane second half - he was on a yellow and trying too hard, not controlled enough in tackles and was a second yellow waiting to happen.

Actually didn't notice the officials much yesterday ... on reflection, they had a good game too.

Thought the referee had a very good game yesterday, albeit, sending off apart, he really didn't have a big decision to make.

As for the red card, it was one of those where it's an absolute bog standard yellow card challenge if the player isn't olready on a yellow card. If he is on the yellow card it's the kind of foul that given a final warning. I'm not convinced he realised when he got the card out that he'd already booked Ballantyne but that doesn't mean he got it wrong. If he thought it worth a yellow then it shouldn't really be relevant whether he's been booked before. We didn't really threaten to win it any more than Airdrie did after that to be honest.

The game was an entertaining one between two sides who both looked very capable of getting the ball down, passing and playing good attacking football but neither of them looked remotely capable of defending solidly. I presume that is not unconnected to absences though. Certainly for our part, the absence of three defenders (Morrison, Paul McKay and Gibson prevented us playing the usual preferred back three with wingbacks formation and meant we slotted into a fairly unfamiliar back four. As a plus it gave us an extra attacker, effectively the free role Connelly operated. No real complaints about the result. Draw was pretty fair. Great response from us after dropping 3-2 down. We really should have gone 3-2 up when Connelly was sent clear at 2-2 just before Airdrie's 3rd. Really not sure how we ended up neither scoring or even getting a serious shot off at that one.

Connelly had a good game with two assists (albeit neither goal had much to do with the short pass before it) and a goal saving black at the end of the first half too. Hopefully injury was nothing serious and he's available for Tuesday. Josh Todd was our best player overall for me but Gavin Reilly's second half was excellent. Best we've seen from him yet in his 2nd spell and richly deserved his goal.
