Saw a lot of hype for episode 3 as being something special and while I thought it was good I don't think it lived up to that much hype.

Going to be interesting to see the reaction to it and whether there's much of a difference between those that have played the game or not as this is definitely the first episode that significantly differs from the game.

Don't want to risk spoiling anything but besides some broad similarities I think Bill is a completely different character from the game to the show and despite being a fan of Nick Offerman I think I prefer Bill from the game.

I really enjoyed that tbh. Aye Bill was very different to the game character but I think they still got his personality over well. I just thought that was a really nice bit of television there and Bill wasn't such a massive character for me in the game that I'm in any way angry they changed his story. Really good episode.

Episode three was wonderful imo, completely out of the blue and didn't want it to end and go back to what I'd been enjoying so much before. Did find it quite strange though in an episode that was such a beautifully written depiction of a relationship that they seemed to imply that Frank deduced Bill was gay from his knowing what wine to pair with rabbit and playing the piano

Slightly OT here. I work with a guy who's gay and we had a conversation years about how he meets people and if this "gaydar" is an actual thing. He said to me that it's no different to a guy and a girl speaking to each other and knowing they fancy each other. I've probably explained that horribly, but the point is I'm happy they'd have known they were gay just by speaking to each other. They probably had to make it 'obvious' in the episode to move it along quicker I suppose.

Aye not angry in any way, just a little surprised at how much they changed Bill and Frank's relationship. It's pretty much an entire reversal of how it played out in the game. I suppose they needed something to change Joel's motivation towards Ellie which wasn't really the case at this point in the game.

As you say it was a nice, if a little sappy story that was well told and well acted but not really seeing it as the masterpiece that a lot of people are. Taking advantage of the medium I suppose as this wasn't really a story that could be told in the same way in a AAA action game.

I thought that was just excellent. Beautiful piece of television. A notable departure from the game, yes, but with the advantage of a tv show you can delve much further into backstory and characters. I thought it was done really really well. Prefer it by far to that part of the game with Bill. Really liked Bill's message to Joel at the end.

From surfing a bit of the online reaction the episode also seems to have pissed off a lot of bigots, claiming the "woke" card. f**k them, glad they're pissed off.

Particularly amusing is the ones claiming the tv show has ruined the story. Clearly none of them have actually played the game - where it is heavily implied that Bill, and by extension Frank, are gay.

Episode 3... Well, what can you say other than it was an absolutely brilliant effort in story telling. Nick offerman was absolutely amazing as bill, as I expected. It obviously expands and changes certain things while completely ignoring other parts from the game, but it doesn't change the overall story arch or progression for Joel and Ellie and I really do think it was fantastic to see Bill and Frank further explored and it might even soften people up ahead of season 2 with the Ellie stuff that got people so annoyed before tlou2 was released.

I understand why people aren't too happy with not seing bill and Ellie having interaction but I think a better story was told here. As long as it doesn't go too wild and take the show away from the overall plot of the game then I'd love to see more depth to these characters.

Yeah, I mean, I didn't think the game was exactly subtle either about the fact Bill and Frank were lovers? I saw one guy going mental saying that "partners" just meant "fighting buddies". There is even a bit where Ellie is reading one of Bill's gay porn mags.

Never played the game so knew very little about this apart from what I've read online. Thought Episode 3 was brilliant, the wife was in absolute bits at the end and I'll admit to having a tear in the eye too. Just so well done from start to finish.

Good episode again. Progressed the Joel and Ellie ark really well but for fans of the game, I'm guessing we don't get the part with Joel under water and Ellie saving him. After last week's episode it did have to be more action oriented and the story pretty much dictates that to be fair. Not to keen on the girl who was in two and a half men in that role so far. Its probably the first time iv questioned the casting, but that could just be me knowing her from that.

As others have said, good progress on the Joel and Ellie relationship in episode 4. Lots of great wee moments where Ellie is breaking through Joel's character a bit, and Joel is opening up slightly and enjoying the company. Been enjoying that part of it as much as I did in the game tbh. Just a really great show so far, not much else to be said.

I didn't know her from Two and a Half Men, so wasn't biased by that, but agree I wasn't a fan of her as that character. Her voice and presence was all off. Apart from that though, another very watchable episode - departure in style and length from ep 3, which was probably required.

Episode 5 although decent was definitely the weakest episode so far for me.

I preferred it to last weeks which was just a build to this week imo.

Even though you knew it was coming with the bite the bit with Sam turning was pretty heartbreaking.

Not watched the series but that might have been the most heartbreaking part of the game for me.
