Falkirk v Clyde

Recommended Posts

While Clyde will be much much more aggressive and “in the game” than Thistle ever were, and despite us having less of the ball, and fewer chances, I think we could win by more. I am hoping for a 4-1 kind of victory.

Despite the win on Saturday, confidence won’t be great. Danny has shuffled the team a few times now which hasn’t helped with any consistency. No coupon busters here on Saturday I don’t think, and a very comfortable 3 or 4-0 to the Bairns and further pressure on Danny I hate to say.

Ah! With our game called off I had totally switched off everyone else would still be playing.

Thistle turned up but weren’t playing, we could easily have put 5 or 6 past them.

This is the sort of game everyone will tip us to lose and we’ll go up and win.

That’s been true for the last few seasons. This season we’ve been solid at home and our players are currently playing with confidence. If Clyde can get in our faces and spoil the game then they’ve got a decent chance, if we get time and space then this should be a comfortable home win

Realistically if Falkirk screw the nut, they should be sticking 4 or 5 past us. We need to be hoping Parry/Mullen is in the mood, lest we're in for a long afternoon. We also cannot go with a two from McLean, Grant or Thicot, they'll just get torn to ribbons, so Sula should play. He won't though, it'll be Grant and McLean. I'm hoping we go for a nice, sensible 442 of:

                     Parry

  Lyon, Sula, McLean, Kennedy

Cuddihy, Grant, Gomis, Roberts

          Cunningham, Allan

Unfortunately it looks like our best wide midfield options as it stands are two centre midfielders, our best left back option is also a centre midfielder (despite having signed two left backs), we don't actually have a right back so let's just stick Ross Lyon in there out the way and up top, we've absolutely no real presence so I'm hoping for Cunningham sitting just behind Allan.

We desperately need a competent, specialist full back at either side and someone up top with a bit of height/strength/mild levels of ability to get us up the park.

Here's hoping Falkirk somehow revert to their natural form of "Scotland's Premier Joke Club (that isn't called The Rangers FC)" before the game, I suppose.

I'd set up he same way as the previous two matches, with the only difference moving Morrison and McGuffie to their natural sides where they are more effective imo

Hogarth

Yeats Donaldson Henderson McCann

McGinn

Morrison Oliver Nesbitt McGuffie

Burrell

Assuming PJM and Williamson are still out but hopefully Alegria will be back to give us a fairly strong bench of

Martin, Mackie, McKay, Hetherington, Carroll, Ross, Kennedy, Lawal, Alegria

3-0 Falkirk Burrell x2, Morrison

Crowd 4k+

Christ, we've got options on the bench!! :o

Don't agree about Morrison though. If we put him on the right he'll try to cut in and hit it with his left umpteen times, at least on the left he'll cut in and hit it umpteen times with his natural foot. Much better chance of scoring IMO.

Agreed. Also If you are having him cut in, best off doing if from McCanns side where it creates space for Leon to run into. Yeats doesn't quite have the overlap thing down like McCann does.

McCann and Morrison can torture defenders down that side. I wouldnt be changing it.
