Can’t say I’m a fan

Will see. I like the two Saturday games in week eighteen. The two Monday nights are a bit rubbish for UK fans but, I suppose, thinning out the number of teams that play on Sunday will mean I see a bit more of the Bears om Redzone when Sky don't choose them as a main game.

Did any team that didn't play their starters at all during the preseason win at the weekend?

Chargers pretty much played nobody except Zion Johnson, Pipkins on the opening drives to figure out RT and help Johnson, and the CB#2/3 got a couple of drives to give them a look at that battle. That was it.

Utter fcuking shite. False starts, holding, illegal formations, taunting, coughing it up twice on the goal line. Missed tackles, and pinning your hopes on a 100 yard field goal at the end?

New coach, new faces, same old fcuking shite. Fcuk off Denver.

Hopefully at least, we won’t see a repeat of Vic Fangio-esque timeout fuckups, decisions to go for it in unrealistic 4th down situations, and a general disposition towards absolutely fcuking up your own chances by your own stupidity.…. And breathe. 🤪

Check.

Russ is something like 4 wins out of 20 games when he attempts 40 passes or more. Looked good at times but need to blow a get cobwebs away soon.

I also completely forgot Buck and Aikman had jumped ship to ESPN. They get a bit of abuse for there style but Iv always enjoyed them as a partnership. Kevin Harlem is my favourite though

I've always liked Aikman but Buck gets on my nerves.

Its why I've never particularly rated him as a QB. He's basically a glorified game-manager, and not an upper-echelon guy who can win games and carry teams with his arm. Still miles better than anything Denver has had since Elway, but they way he's been paid down the years is ridiculous based on what he actually produces.

Get where you're coming from but he has never just been about his arm. He moves the ball on the ground and was quite often Seattle's 2nd best rusher. Also he has won something like the 4th most come from behind wins in NFL history. Some of his games he's been imperious but I appreciate he isn't a stand and throw it guy like Marino or Manning.

The game manager tag is a bit harsh and is partly why he left so he could cook somewhere else.

Big upgrade for the Broncos certainly.

Well yeah, that's a bit of indulgent hyperbole, but it's because I'm a bit bemused at the media assertions that Wilson is suddenly going to start slinging it like Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady et al simply because he's free of Pete Carroll, when he is not, and never has been that sort of QB.

The point I was really getting it, is that if Denver ends up getting into a 90 point shoot-out my money is on whoever the other QB is, which is why I've always found Russell being paid like a top 3 QB ridiculous. He was the highest paid QB in the league a few years ago, which is total nonsense, but symptomatic of an NFL market which will likely see Lamar Jackson become the same.

Fair comment. He is a very good passer of the ball. I guess as in any team it is cresting the best situations for him and the offence as much as possible.

Just catching up with this. What an absolute clusterfuck of a closing drive by the Broncos.

The Manningcast coverage of it is a right good laugh.

Yeah, they were pretty much saying what anyone with a passing understanding of 2-minute football was thinking. It's baffling how a current NFL roster and coaching staff can goof so badly on the field when it's crystal clear how they are going wrong to folk watching on TV, but I suppose that's the difference between being able to make pressure-free decisions sat at home on your sofa, and shitting your pants because you are in the immediacy of an actual NFL game.

Still, this sort of stuff is pretty formulaic in the sense that you can flowchart it pretty easily so everyone is on the same page. Most of it is simple 'in X situation do Y', so it's beyond me how coaches and players being paid millions can't grasp it.

I think Bills-Titans is closer than the odds and spread suggest, Bills have really struggled to contain Henry last 2 games and with 2 interior DL - especially our best one Ed Oliver- out that's not good. Probably helps that Titans are weaker at receiver than last year. Gabe Davis likely out on offense as well which will be a test of depth, will be a mix of 5th round rookie Khalil Shakir and special teams specialist Jake Kumerow that fill in the extra snaps.

Fortunately I'm off all week (booked months ago) so can stay up for this one unless we're getting humped. Will go 31-27 Bills more in hope than expectation. 50 yard+ Henry TD a decent bet.

Eagles- Vikings as well tonight, that should be a pretty decent game in theory.

31-27 is sane numbers, so fair play to you. I was laughing at the weekend at NFL panellist picks. The usual slew of bizarre scores like 25-19 and stuff. Makes me wonder how many times these idiots have actually watched a game where a team won with three TD's, two successful PAT's, a missed PAT, a FG, and a Safety.
