The support is made up of individuals and if the individuals want to protest then let them protest I say

If you want to have a silence them you can do so in the comfort of your own home.

Why should the fans who want to observe a minute's silence not be allowed to? The protesters get what they want, but the St Mirren fans don't? That's how you see it?

What utter utter drivel.
Undercurrent - pmsl at that. There is no undercurrent with a lot of posters the last 24 hours. Just pure hatred. Basically if you are not a Tory Hating Independence supporter you do not (in the main) fit on this board. That is clear for all to see. If you dare to have alternative views you are red dotted all over the place. Not that I give a sh1t.
Some of the posts on here about the death of the Queen have been VILE. And they get green dotted. Sad but not unexpected.

Big team found

Were you perturbed  and perplexed by the same when Thatcher died?

If you truly understood those peoples feelings, maybe you could actually see their perspective, but you either don't, or refuse to, and arrogantly think you do, going on your moral crusade. Which is in itself a contradiction, as in this day and age especially, with hardship and food banks, everything about the monarchy is immoral and vile.

For the last fkin time ! Read my post again ! I have said I see there perspective !! If people want to hate the Queen and Monarchy then 100% fine by me. I even understand why. I have said myself there are plenty of royals I do not like at all.

There are politicians in Scotland on £150kPA. By all accounts Blackford is a millionaire. And yet there are food banks. Is that not immoral also ? Or do you just choose when it suits your purpose.

For the FINAL time. No moral crusade. Just basic human decency. There is absolutely no need for the quite horrendous and vile posts that followed her death. It is not clever and is a rather sad indictment on the individuals themselves. There are plenty of people in life in politics that if they died I would hardly care. But I would not feel the need to rejoice or celebrate their death and post as much………

Nothing is stopping them from doing it.

If you want to bring  politics  into football you can’t really complain when people want to make political statements

Yeah, it will, because the disruption to the silence will be mirrored by the OTT singing in celebration and ‘God Save the King’ vibe coming from your bosom buddies across the city. The reason for the vast difference in reaction by the fans of the uglies will be for reasons not simply related to a dislike / hatred of the monarchy as an institution. Christ knows, there will be thousands of Sevconians who don’t actually give a fcuk about the institution who will belt out the songbook. The Sevconians who unfurl banners congratulating William & Kate - think they genuinely give a fcuk about William & Kate and their lives of privilege?

There will be many St Mirren fans at the game for whom observing a minute’s silence in her honour will stick in their craw’, but they’ll likely stand there and bite their lip, showing respect not necessarily for Queeny, but for their fellow fans, the club, and see no need to draw attention to themselves. Vast swathes of your lot will get erections by being able to disrupt the silence, same as vast swathes of the Sevco hordes will take delight in giving it the big licks in the loyalist songbook. We all know why. Attention should always be drawn to both sets of OF fans, because you are, in large part, just the same cheek of a huge sectarian arse.

I would have been dreading the minutes silence at Pittodrie today, tbh.

Has there been that much vitriol towards her as a person? I don’t think there has.

All commentary is being made about the Queen as a public figure representative of an institution. None of it is about the private individual, Elizabeth Windsor or whatever. Folk know well that this distinction exists but they're searingly dishonest so continue on with their "disrespecting an old dead lady" line.

SNP are milquetoast liberals so indeed are part of the problem from a socialist perspective. However, they at least vote against measures leading directly to the creation of food banks. Tories, by contrast, callously enact the policies which create those food banks. So if pro-Tory posts get red dotted everywhere on this site, as you claim, then that's a credit to this site's users.

I agree that a lot of vitriol is directed at the Queen and monarchy as an institution, not Liz Windsor the individual human being. It’s for this reason I found a few posts a bit puzzling. The ones absolutely hammering anyone who said something like ‘I’m no monarchist, but…’. Anyone saying that were quite vehemently attacked by a few posters. ‘Grow a backbone, either join the shoe lickers or call her a lizard’. Is there no room for a view anywhere between the two extremes? Does everything have to be at either end of the scale? I mean, I’m no fan of the Sevco, but fair fcuks for reaching a European final. I’m certainly no fan of Gary Barlow, but by Christ, if ‘Rule the World’ isn’t a decent choon. I’m no fan of Margaret Thatcher, but…

Shit. Fcuked my own argument right there. Anyway, what’s the latest fitba’ scores? Shit. Forgot.

It will be the only game in Scotland where it happens. Every other set of supporters will observe the minutes silence with indifference but it’s far too big an opportunity for the more attention seeking members of the Celtic support to miss. It won’t bother me for a second. I’d scrap the monarchy in a heartbeat.  The faux outrage from the tabloids and twitter will be more tiresome than the disrupted minutes silence.

It’s already happened at Tynecastle the other night. The reality is that there will be a number of games up here where the silence is disrupted to varying degrees

If you read US discourse on George Floyd, even the comments that seem to be about him as an individual are actually opinion on working class black Americans as a collective. When you got the right wingers there yelling about Floyd's supposed criminality, that was short-hand for " working class black Americans are inherently criminal therefore I support the state brutalising them via the justice system".

I think it's the same with all public figures given nobody commenting ever knows them personally. The individual at the centre of the discussion is acting as a mere symbol in a debate over a wider issue. I'd also say that folk who get offended over criticism of a public figure because they've incorporated support for that figure into their personal identity - whether its the Queen, a kpop singer or whoever - those folk need to question if that's a wise mindset to continue on with.

The constitutional arrangement in the UK is not a political issue.  There are currently no mainstream* parties proposing abolishing the monarchy.

*The greens are not mainstream.

How can a minute's silence be seen to have been observed when a bunch of selfish b*****ds don't allow it to happen. Celtic fans are never in the wrong as far as you're concerned.

Again though, why is this different from the other jokes and piss taking when someone famous dies? Why is this 'the line'?

I’m avoiding all tv news and media outlets and I’m still absolutely raging at how this overkill is dominating everything.

Crocodile tears everywhere for a woman most people have never met. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us.

If you want to mourn her then fine. But don’t expect everyone to feel the same.
