The Official Liz Truss no longer PM but still a Clusterfuck thread

Clown Job

Recommended Posts

Just turned it on for couple of minutes there, load of guff. Just a load of background rabble while folk try to ask weird questions like “will the PM thank so and so for delivering this project in my constituency.” Unbearable to listen to. No wonder the country is falling apart.

No matter how much you loathe the Daily Mail, and no matter how much you know they are partly to blame for the mess we are in, you have to admire the genius of the paper for the way it lures in normal, simple everyday people with celebrity and TV show gossip, whilst gently brainwashing them with right wing propaganda.

Aye, The Guardian has a lot to learn.

I had relations in Hartlepool, and like Central Scotland the North East of England has had much of its economy and social fabric ripped apart from Thatcher onwards.

Again, like much of Scotland, with few Tory MP's in place retaliation was taken out on an ineffective Labour Party.  In Scotland the vote migrated to the SNP, but in the NE however very it disturbingly went firstly to UKIP and once they had made inroads it fell to Johnson's lies over Brexit - it is ironic that Sunderland as featured on the telly this morning recorded the highest percentage Leave vote in the UK.

Many, many people there are now in dire straits and that's grim, but there's no doubt that over time they shot themselves very badly in both feet.

Correct.

In Scotland, disaffection with Labour had somewhere far less destructive to go.

It's nowhere near as good as it used to be in the days of Peter Preston but it's like a wee lighthouse amidst a catastrofvck ocean of rightwing propaganda.

(I await a tsunami of opprobrium for this post.)

It's a parody of itself, imho.

I was actually meaning it has a lot to learn in the drawing them in then feeding them propoganda stakes.

Just saw a bit of the Sunderland audience, one woman not giving a shit and holding them to account. Which was nice another person saying how greatful he was, which was just bizzare.

It's a bit odd that the Tories seem to be of a mind that war in Ukraine and Covid means that they're absolutely not to blame for any of the UK's cost of living crisis, and don't seem to realise that as the party of governance they are responsible for negotiating the UK's way through these issues, so it is absolutely reasonable to skewer them for making a complete and utter James Hunt of it.

It's possible for a government to be dealt a totally shitty hand and be plunged into crises that are not of their own doing, but it's still absolutely fair and reasonable to hold them to account for the outcomes of their decisions taken at these times. The boy on that programme who was responding to the woman asking about them being ashamed genuinely seemed to think that they should be given a mulligan purely because they didn't invade Ukraine or create Covid.

Same thing with Truss's attempt to paint herself as a hero for u-turning on her entire economic plan. Absolutely no recognition of the fact that the fucking chaos she caused has serious consequences that aren't undone in any way simply by changing course. The refusal to acknowledge any complicity whatsoever is astounding. Even more so while they are issuing apologies and yet claiming that there really isn't anything to apologise for.

So, when asked Hunt refuses to commit to the pension triple lock but Truss confirms that it will stay in place when asked by Blackford.  Policy on the hoof?

We need Blackford to ask more probing questions like this.  “So Prime Minister, Lorne or square sausage ?”
