We all know that Joris is massively popular amongst the Tory electorate. Not MPs, no, but they also know this. They will vote for him because they know their constituents want him. Joris will win this in a landslide and will start the Tories creeping back up the polls. By early next year they'll be ahead of Labour again.

Andrew Bridgen (right winbg ERG member) is sounding like the adult in the room, says BoJo shouldnt get back in. Tells you everything about how different England is to Scotland. They are fucking nutjobs.

flyingscot
Johnson was haemorrhaging them seats and was binned because he was a liability. Bold to think the electorate have forgotten that. That said I suspect many are backing him because they know if anyone else becomes PM in the calls for a 'general election now' will be too loud to ignore and with him they can say he was elected...
jagfox
Johnson will just claim he's the reincarnation of Churchill and the flag-shaggers will lap it up! Distinct lack of self awareness amongst the Conservatives and a chunk of their supporters.

I heard a political analyst saying he thought it was unlikely that he would win the contest because of a Parliamentary enquiry hanging over his head and other issues. However, you never know. I've found the events of the last 24 hours, or even since Johnson resigned, quite bizarre,

He lost Wakefield and the biggest majority ever lost at Tiverton and Honiton by-elections. They binned him because his indiscretions became an electoral liability. Seems a big risk to think we've all forgotten.
