Johnson vs Sunak running for leadership could utterly destroy the Tory Party.

Delicious

It won't though, will it?

We all know that Joris is massively popular amongst the Tory electorate. Not MPs, no, but they also know this. They will vote for him because they know their constituents want him.

Joris will win this in a landslide and will start the Tories creeping back up the polls. By early next year they'll be ahead of Labour again.

I’d happily take a bet against that.

Listening to 5 Live right now and some of the chat from the tory members calling in is staggering.

Andrew Bridgen (right winbg ERG member) is sounding like the adult in the room, says BoJo shouldnt get back in.

Tells you everything about how different England is to Scotland.

They are fucking nutjobs.

Johnson was haemorrhaging them seats and was binned because he was a liability. Bold to think the electorate have forgotten that.

That said I suspect many are backing him because they know if anyone else becomes PM in the calls for a 'general election now' will be too loud to ignore and with him they can say he was elected...

Johnson will just claim he's the reincarnation of Churchill and the flag-shaggers will lap it up!

Distinct lack of self awareness amongst the Conservatives and a chunk of their supporters.

I heard a political analyst saying he thought it was unlikely that he would win the contest because of a Parliamentary enquiry hanging over his head and other issues.

However, you never know.

I've found the events of the last 24 hours, or even since Johnson resigned, quite bizarre,

The Tory electorate, almost to a man / woman / child, absolutely love him.

Tory MPs know this.

They will vote for him, because they know that's what their constituents want, and that's what will keep them in jobs.

He lost Wakefield and the biggest majority ever lost at Tiverton and Honiton by-elections. They binned him because his indiscretions became an electoral liability. Seems a big risk to think we've all forgotten.

These are Tories you're talking about.

Johnson is being investigated for having potentially deliberately misled parliament in statements that he has made in the House about alleged breaches of lockdown rules in Downing Street – something that could constitute a contempt of parliament.

“Of all the small nations of this earth, perhaps only the ancient Greeks surpass the Scots in their contribution to mankind” – Winston Churchill.

In a speech at Ibrox, reportedly. Sycophantic  chunt.

They think he won once, so will win again and save them. They genuinely are this stupid.
