Ayr vs Thistle - 10th September 2022

Recommended Posts

With this set to be a top of the table clash on a Saturday afternoon with sun forecast, I think the earlier shouts of a 4000 attendance for this one were pretty realistic.

Now that this one will be played on a cold Tuesday night instead we'll probably do well to pass nearly half that figure. Bit of a stinker for Ayr (and the general atmosphere).

We fully appreciate that clubs will, understandably, want clarity regarding this weekend’s fixtures as soon as possible and we will provide an update tomorrow.

The financial burden on the club, and every other home team on Saturday will be massive. Tens of thousands of pounds lost for us if Saturday’s match is off. If people want to stay at home and greet, let them.

It will be the biggest lot of nonsense EVER, if the games are postponed on Saturday.

Nothing against her, but 9 days of "nationwide mourning" is painfully fucking excessive in the extreme. To have that that length of time forced upon us in this day and age is madness.

Absolutely gutted Saturday will be off.

Mourning for what ?? She was a 96 year old who lived a life of luxury and who passed away peacefully in her country estate.

What is there to "MOURN" or indeed even care about ???

So we're in the middle of an energy crisis and they are seriously proposing that clubs play fixtures on a Midweek night having to use floodlights when there's absolutely no need whatsoever to do so ??

Not to mention all the lost revenue ??

Who's going to cover that ???

This, its not like she was even a massive football fan who gave back to the game get the game on and no stupid 1 minute silence as well.

Seen this on a few newspaper websites tonight ( don’t know the truth behind it as it’s The Scotsman and The Herald)

It is widely known that there are plans in
place for a period of national mourning in
the event of the Queen's passing, which
would have an effect on a number of
aspects of daily life, including sporting
events.
Will Scottish football fixtures be
cancelled when the Queen dies?
The passing of the Queen would start a
period of mourning across the United
Kingdom, as detailed in a document called
"Operation London Bridge".
As part of that plan, which is set out for the
nine days following the monarch's death,
sports fixtures would indeed be postponed,
including all SPFL matches.

I agree! Should be celebrating losing a fucking leech on society and should be treated no different to a benefit scrounger

It's well established that football shows respect for people who've died via a minute's silence or applause. Not by postponing games. It's hard enough to get all the fixtures played once the weather turns without adding another unnecessarily.
