Rangers v St Johnstone 13/8/22

Recommended Posts

Been okay. Defended relatively well but disappointing to lose a goal defending a set piece for the third game in a row.

Obviously, you really need to score chances like Bairs at ibrox. Been disappointing on the ball the few times we've had in the rangers' half particularly from the guys you'd expect better from like Murphy and Hallberg. Difficult on a day like today without the ball so much though.

Wright made a colossal arse of that.

Bair offered nothing at all there, not sure what he’s going to bring to the table at all that May doesn’t.

Aye both run about a lot without doing very much. Lucky if they both get 5 goals a season. We need better, far far better.

Only saw the second half but remain of the firm view that Considine is absolutely done at this level. Looks like a cartoon character running on the spot.

Thought Philips did OK even though he's full of errors, at least his first thought on getting the ball isn't to get rid of it.

Given how many English Championship players have struggled I didn't think it would be guaranteed Lawrence would succeed up here, but its obviously a walk for him. Hopefully he'll get bored of that and leave soon.

Disappointing how quickly it went from 1-0 to 4.  We were up against it, but still in the game at the time.

Thought Murphy was our most dangerous player, would have kept him on; was he injured when he went off?

Bair had occasional decent moments but nowhere near enough, he’s so passive at times. He should have buried the header from 5 yards out where he fell over and he put the shot wide.

There were goals for us in that game. We got ourselves into a few forward areas and poor decision making or passing let us down regularly.  Crawford through with May on a 2 v 1 in the last minute and not even trying to play him in was a glaring example.

I liked the fact we tried to pass the ball, and Phillips looks exactly like what we’ve been missing. Very confident on the ball. Him and MacPherson in there together could see us retain possession far better in future games. Hallberg a bit invisible today.

This is the apotheosis of 'glass half full'.  Apart from Bair's half-chance you were bereft of ideas.

Were lacklustre last week against Killie, better on Tuesday against Union Saint-Gilloise and excellent today at Ibrox - apart from the baws-up by Barasic which led to your chance.

A good show from us.

When you compare it to some of the dross from last season, it seems proportional.

Rangers were clearly the better side and well deserved the win, but from a Saints perspective, although it was a 4-0 loss, there are some positives to be had.

Against poorer sides, we will create more and it was good to see some forward movement from the saints midfield.

Rangers 3rd looked offside to me, but can't really argue with it being 4-0. Plus, we were giving you a psychological lift by wearing red and white stripes ahead of Tuesday. 😉

Good to see you backing a British Scottish team in Europe.  It's all about the coefficient, eh?

Offside though?  Nah.

Yes trying to look for positives, but we’ve gone a long spell of being unable to string any passes together and just humping the ball up the park every time we got it.

The fact that we went to an OF side and at least attempted to pass the ball, and tried to get bodies up the park when there was a chance of an attack, are progress for me.

Not arguing we deserved anything from the game.

Must of been the 4th then. Whichever one he dropped back to pick up, swivel and score.

Always support Scottish teams in Europe. Doesn't make laughing at Utd any less fun mind you.
